Found Deceased NY - Qassim Adawi, adult, citizen of Saudi Arabia, left to take pictures, Niagara Falls, 6 Jul 2019

RIYADH: US police in upper New York state are searching for a Saudi man who went missing while on a trip to Niagara Falls with his wife and three children.

Qassim Adawi left his family in their car on Sunday while he took photos of the waterfall, his wife said. She became alarmed when he failed to return after some time had elapsed, and contacted authorities.

The Saudi Consulate in New York said they had been in contact with the New York state police conducting the search. The investigator in charge said a witness had reported seeing someone fall into the water, and the investigation was continuing.

Hmm, that photo looks to have been taken at NF, IMO. Perhaps earlier that day, but probably with his own phone, the one he maybe used to go take the pictures his wife alleges he was going to take? Hope this visitor is ok and just lost... but... it sounds ominous.

Ironic. THAT man was trying to kill himself, it was reported. It was 4am. He was found safe, resting on some rocks. I wonder if he is still suicidal.

And I still hope the best for Qassim's family.

I am confused..the Horseshoe Falls are in Canada and I thought a little down from the American Falls or vice versa...could he go into the river near the American Falls and end up going over the Horseshoe Falls?

The volume and rate of the water flowing in this section of the river is intense. If he were to slip or lose his balance taking a selfie, or slip and fall in taking a scenic photograph by not being careful of his footing -- more focused on the image in the screen than his physical surroundings, there would be little hope of a safe recovery.

You can't but its easy to get into the water above either.

The water behind him in the selfie is ominous. Even a strong swimmer would not survive falling into that.
