During an interview, Rothenbusch admitted to drug trafficking and stated Brittany died in his home under suspicious circumstances. He admitted to keeping her body in the residence for approximately four days before it was disposed of.
Rothenbusch was charged with:
1. Corrupting Another with Drugs (F1) – specific to a pregnant woman
2. Tampering with Evidence (F3)
3. Gross Abuse of a Corpse (F5)
4. Trafficking in Drugs (F3)
5. Possession of Drugs (F3)
6. Failure to Report Crime or Death (M4)
7. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (M4)
A second suspect, Rick Sheppard, was located on Baltimore St. in Middletown. During questioning, Sheppard also admitted Brittany had died in the home and that her body remained there for nearly a week before being disposed of.
Sheppard was charged with:
1. Gross Abuse of a Corpse (F5)
2. Tampering with Evidence (F3)
*Both individuals admitted they were aware Brittany was pregnant.
