A 19-year-old woman in Oklahoma was arrested this week for allegedly sexually abusing and taking obscene photographs and videos of her boyfriend’s 3-year-old daughter.

Ashlee Cheatham was taken into custody on Tuesday evening and charged with a spate of felonies, including one count of sexual abuse of a child under age 12 and one count of making or distributing types of obscene material or child , authorities announced.

Cheatham is also facing one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, and felony violation of Oklahoma’s Computer Crimes Act.

While Cheatham was sleeping, the father scrolled through her cellphone and found what police “disturbing images and videos of his 3-year-old daughter,” police wrote in the release.

Cheatham had reportedly applied for a job as a paraprofessional at Nicoma Park Elementary School and was “in the process of being hired” before her arrest. In a statement to KOCO, a spokesperson for the district said they made a “mutual decision to terminate the hiring process.”

According to the Stillwater Police Department (SPD), on August 22, at 10:11 a.m., an officer responded to the SPD lobby where he met with a very distraught parent.

Police said the parent disclosed he recently met a girl online from the Oklahoma City area. She became his girlfriend and moved in with him.

Police said Cheatham later admitted to the crimes in interviews, and she faces several charges.

Them thinking there are no additional victims has me confounded. CP and CSA upon toddlers isn't something that just occurs suddenly to a 19 year old young woman. These types of offenses build and grow not just springing up overnight.

I strongly suspect this is an activity she worked up to and the 3 year old child was not her first victim.

A woman who was arrested Tuesday in Stillwater for having child and committing child sexual abuse is listed for hire on a website that brings babysitters to families in need.

Police say 19-year-old Ashlee Cheatham was arrested after her boyfriend looked through her phone that morning while she was asleep and found disturbing pictures and videos of a child.

“We had him very visibly upset and storming into our department lobby,” said Luitenant TJ Low of the Stillwater Police Department.

Officials say that the boyfriend found images and videos showing a naked three-year-old on Ashlee’s phone so he filed a report.

“It was all very disturbing, that’s why we made the arrest that day,” said Lt. Low.

Cheatham was contacted by SPD officers and detectives and was later arrested at the residence. She was taken to jail and booked without incident

SPD says the charges Cheatham may face include:

• Sexual abuse of a child under 12
• Make or distribute types of obscene material or child
• Possession of marijuana
• Violation of Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act – Felony

Viewers reached out to KFOR concerned that they thought Cheatham had worked at a Choctaw school recently, Nicoma Park Elementary. After contacting Superintendent David Reid of the Choctaw-Nikoma School District he said she didn’t work there.

Ashlee Cheatham was in the process of being hired by the district for the current school year (2023-24). All employees are required to do a federal background check as a part of the hiring process. Before the hiring process was completed, a mutual decision to terminate the hiring process was made. Ms. Cheatham never worked for the district, never received a paycheck, and has never been with any of our students.

KFOR found out that Cheatham currently worked for a website called NannyLane.com. A website that provides babysitting services to families who are interested. The site details that it conducts major background checks before offering a verified nanny for a family.

On December 13, Cheatham was sentenced on multiple counts, with the sentences running concurrently.

1. Possession of child
2. Child sexual abuse
3. Child sexual exploitation
4. Unlawful access to computer to violate Oklahoma statutes
5. Unlawful possession of controlled drug
6. Unlawful possession of controlled drug

For Count 1, she received a 10-year sentence in the Department of Corrections, along with a $500 fine and court costs.

Count 2 resulted in a 20-year sentence and court costs.

For Counts 3 and 4, Cheatham was sentenced to 30 years each, with 10 years suspended on the condition of good behavior.

After being released, she has to register as a sex offender and will be supervised by the Department of Corrections Probation and Parole. She also has to pay $500 and courts for both counts.

Count 5 resulted in a 5-year sentence, and Count 6 led to a year sentence in Payne County Jail. She also has to pay court costs for both counts.
