I would feel better knowing this snake was his pet. Otherwise this could be my new irrational fear.

Who would keep a 15 foot snake in an apartment? No thanks. The smell must be horrible.

Sounds like this young man was a true friend to the reptiles he saved and nurtured, which makes his death all the more tragic:
(From article shared by @Richrd)

“My son was unique and kind and should still be with his family and friends,” Senseman’s mother, Heather, said.

Elliott Senseman rescued snakes; his family told The Daily Beast he worked with snakes since he was 10 and was an experienced handler.

The boa came from a home where it was neglected and mistreated.

“He was still working with it because it was so aggressive couldn’t be placed yet,” his mother said. “He was experienced and would never handle that snake alone. He was only checking the enclosure and all appropriate measures were taken. Too many people get these snakes and can’t handle or take care of them. They shouldn’t be bred to be kept as pets. He wanted them to be in a habitat that was as close to their natural environments as possible since they couldn’t be put in the wild.”

Senseman collapsed and his grandmother found him with the boa wrapped around him and called 911, the Daily Beast reported.

Oh, how sad. He sounds like a wonderful young man. RIP Elliott. Sympathy to his family. They must be heartbroken.
