Matthew Mefford went missing around 10:15pm on June 17, 2024. He was dropped off near a friend’s house somewhere in the 100 block of Soren Lane. However, he reportedly never made it to the friend’s house. There is no public information on cellphone tracking, potential whereabouts, or CCTV. It is said to be highly unusual and out of character for Matthew to disappear.
According to his friends, Matthew was part of the nearby Hare Krishna temple. He sometimes went by Madana Mohana Dāsa because of this.
(As a note, Hare Krishna is often referred to as being vaguely cultish. While not officially listed as a cult, it is alleged that the temple can be intensive in its programming, messaging, and obligations. But some argue that the temple is simply poisoned by a few bad apples. Nonetheless, this religion is merely a factor of Matthew’s life, and debates on its cult-y nature should not overshadow his sudden disappearance.)
