It certainly looks like it.

I didn't expect the verdict to be particularly swift, but I thought the jury would be done by the end of last week at least!

Majority Direction Given!

ETA quote from article:
Jurors have so far been in retirement for more than 15 hours over four days.

After the jury confirmed on Monday that it had yet to reach unanimous verdicts on any of the counts faced by Betro, Judge Simon Drew KC gave the panel a majority direction.
Before inviting jurors to resume their discussions, the judge told them: “I ask you to continue to deliberate and to continue to try to reach verdicts on which you are all agreed.”

The judge said he could now accept verdicts or either guilty or not guilty on which at least 10 of the 12 jurors agreed.

The judge added: “But it cannot be less than that (10).”

This has to be one of the most ridiculous images I have ever seen emerge from a criminal trial. Can you even imagine hiring an "assassin" from the United States, and this is what arrives at the airport?

I agree that this whole thing's a clown show, but surely the most effective assassin is one that doesn't look like an assassin?

she sure doesn't look 45 in the pictures I've seen but I'm sure they're all filtered
I wonder if she has mental illness problems ...

It'd certainly make my Assassin's Creed games play a little differently if the character was wheeling a giant pink suitcase with them wherever they went. Would definitely affect the sneaky factor.

At Last!

A would-be assassin who tried to shoot a rival at point-blank range while disguised in a niqab has been found guilty of conspiracy to murder.

Aimee Betro, 45, who is originally from the US, flew to the UK as part of a revenge plot orchestrated by co-conspirators Mohammed Aslam, 59, and Mohammed Nabil Nazir, 31, to attack a family they had been feuding with.

Birmingham crown court heard how she had tried to shoot Sikander Ali outside his home in Yardley, Birmingham, on the evening of 7 September 2019, but her handgun jammed.

Betro, who fled to the US while Aslam and Nazir were tried in the same court, will be sentenced at a later date.

More details soon …

She'll be a very old woman by the time she gets back to the States. Mohammed Nazir got 32 years for his part in this conspiracy, and Betro was the one who actually pulled the trigger.

yes and no - as they're not life sentences so there's a strong chance they'll only be in prison for half of their sentences before being released on parole.

A life sentence is possible for conspiracy to commit murder, and as the one who pulled the trigger, she's likely to get a more serious sentence than the others -

Where the relevant offence or any of the relevant offences is an offence of any of the following descriptions, that is to say—

(a)murder, or any other offence the sentence for which is fixed by law;

(b)an offence for which a sentence extending to imprisonment for life is provided; or

(c)an indictable offence punishable with imprisonment for which no maximum term of imprisonment is provided,

the person convicted shall be liable to imprisonment for life.
