i know article is paid subscription but it does highlight that his family and friends are not happy with the police. They werent allowed to search and Gboyega family were not consulted before the police announcement.

I had a feeling that there would be criticism of the police at some point. Without being able to read the article, and without knowing the detail behind what actually happened to Gboyega, it is difficult to know how much of the criticism is justified.

An article in the NME (New Musical Express) quotes the police as saying that they "continue to ask that no one attempts to conduct their own search for him due to the risks posed by the nature of the terrain". On that particular aspect, at least, the police seem to be in a no-win situation.

Bad Betty Press, where Gboyega was an editor, have also issued a statement in which their anger can clearly be felt.

Stumbled on a performance from Gboyega about knife crime, it's quite unsettling in retrospect.

They will say 'today',
'A young man has died today',
It will be a Friday -
A young man has died young,
O so terribly young.
