Orhan Ekren, 48, was last seen in Camden on November 26 after taking a trip to the capital from Milton Keynes to renew his Visa.

After finishing his appointment, the university lecturer, who is originally from Turkey, told his wife Banu he was going to walk around the city as he ‘loves London so much’.

He then spent a few hours at a pub on the canalside, but after starting his journey back to Euston station he disappeared – and hasn’t been since.

[...]

Orhan texted his wife to let him know he was going to the pub, where he stayed for a few hours and was ‘definitely having fun’.

Banu called him to tell him to return home to Milton Keynes, and by 10.30pm he had started his journey back while she continued to track him to make sure he was okay.

But he suddenly ‘veered off the road’ and down a footpath by the canal, and his phone lost signal at 11.23pm.

Orhan’s clothes and backpack were both handed into the police, while sopping wet with canal water, but Banu said it is unclear how they managed to wash up on the banks on their own.

It does, doesn't it. Did he have a few too many and fall into canal?
i was thinking the same thing!
i wonder if it was common for his wife to track him on his way home, or if she had specific reasons to be worried this time

UK authorities are increasingly concerned for the welfare of Orhan Ekren, a 48-year-old man last seen in Camden over two weeks ago.

Ekren, who resides in Milton Keynes and is of Turkish heritage, was spotted near Camden Market, close to Camden Lock on Tuesday, Nov. 26.

The Metropolitan Police have intensified their search efforts after Ekren’s dark backpack was found near the canal the day after his disappearance.

He was last seen wearing dark clothing, and there have been no confirmed sightings of him since.

Ekren is a respected academic who previously served as a visiting professor at Cranfield University.

he may have gone down to pee in the canal and fell in
this seems to happen a lot with men after leaving pubs, although usually students, not profs
hopefully I'm wrong and he just took off for a bit of a break JMO

There doesn't seem to have been any updates on either this misper or the body recovered. Anyone seen anything?

The body of 48-year-old Turkish academic Orhan Ekren, who went missing in late November, was found in Regent's Canal in London, his family said Thursday.

His body was found near to where the last signal was received on a mobile app used by the family to track each other's locations, his wife Banu Ekren told Anadolu.
