SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – It’s been more than a year and Michelle Leyba has yet to call home.

She disappeared after leaving her grandmother’s house and her sister is hoping someone has information that will lead to her return.

Shyloe Cordova recalled that day when she realized Leyba wasn’t returning anyone’s calls.

“I called my grandmother if she had spoken to Michelle and she hadn’t talked to her for a few months,” said Cordova.

“That’s when I realized something was probably wrong.”

I wonder what happened... It doesn't sound good, it's been a very long time.

Seems like she was missing for a while before anyone realized it and it doesn't look like LE has made any real effort to locate her. I hope she's just managed to stay off the radar but it definitely doesn't sound good.

Wow. Was just searching around for more info on Michelle and found this article saying a Michelle Leyba was killed by a train while crossing the tracks in SLC. Is this the same woman? How sad!

EDIT: Yes, that was the same woman. :( Here is her obit

Looks like the person next to her may have been aware of some kind of danger, and they tried to dissuade her from crossing to no avail.
The NIMBYs who presssed for the "no train horn" at this and other crossings also deserve some, though by no means all, of the blame for incidents like this.
MOO

edited for gender, can't tell due to blurring
