Cranium found in recently sold residence

Such strange circumstances. I wonder where and how it was found.

Was it found among other items, as if someone had it as a novelty (not to be disrespectful, but some people keep bones they buy or dig up, as if they think it is "cool?" But I find that very disrespectful.)

Or was a prior resident involved in the medical field; maybe it was a specimen they had kept?

Any reason to believe this could be a victim, a missing person?

It was found in a bucket in the basement by a construction worker. Let me go find the news articles.

Here is an article from when the cranium was first found in the basement: Human skull found in MLT basement – no other remains on site | MLTnews.com

The home was sold December 2024, and is located on 48th Avenue West in Mountlake Terrace.

The reconstruction sketch reminds me of Ruthie Fawn Kindness. WA - WA - Ruthie Fawn Kindness, 20, Parkland, 7 Feb 2011

Hey everyone — really compelling thread so far. I’ve spent some time combing through public court and property records, and I noticed a strangely tight timeline that seems worth flagging:
  • Nov 15, 2024: A Quit Claim Deed was recorded transferring ownership of the residence where the skull was found (24009 48th Ave W). The deed stems from a Divorce Settlement between the parties involved.
  • Jan 14, 2025: The “Golden Doe” cranium was discovered in a bucket during renovations at that property.
  • Mar 7, 2025: A Civil Protection Order case was filed in Snohomish County (same parties).
The convergence of a property transfer, the discovery of remains, and legal actions occurring within just four months strikes me as unusually close in timing. I’m not suggesting anything definitive—just pointing out the pattern.

For reference:
  • Case #2025-870 is the MLT PD file number.
  • The state NamUs listing: UP138952 (Golden Doe)
  • If anyone is aware of missing person cases in the Snohomish / North King County area from the 1980s–2000s, the emergence of DNA results might help cross-check.
Let me know if this overlaps with anything current in the thread — happy to help track more once DNA results come in.

Hmm found in a bucket..... sounds like the podcast Head Number 7 which covered various aspects of the legal and grey-area trade in donated bodies and the sale of their dismembered parts, primarily in the US. Hosted by geneticist Dr Turi King (of BBC's DNA Family Secrets) - it's a fascinating listen. In one of the early episodes a man keeps body pieces in buckets in his basement.

The party charged in the protection order case also has been involved in a wrongful death case and committed sexual misconduct on duty apparently.

The party charged in the protection order case also has been involved in a wrongful death case and committed sexual misconduct on duty apparently.
For reference, the respondent in the March 2025 Snohomish County civil protection order is Cody McCoy. That name also appears in the HeraldNet coverage of the $1.5M wrongful death settlement stemming from the 2017 Alex Dold case, where McCoy and another deputy (Bryson McGee) were involved.

McCoy is no longer employed with the sheriff’s office, but the overlap stood out when aligning the timeline of:

  • Nov. 2024: property transfer linked to a divorce
  • Jan. 2025: discovery of the skull (NamUs UP138952, case #2025-870)
  • Mar. 2025: civil protection order naming McCoy

I’m not suggesting conclusions, only noting the sequence and the repeated appearance of the same individual across public records.

Could this young woman be a possible candidate for a match? What do you all think?
It says her daughter was later located, but doesn’t elaborate. Google Maps says that Longview is a near three hour drive from Mountlake Terrace.
