Investigators are pulling out all the stops to find missing Gina DeJesus, 14. Police purchased clothing identical to what she was wearing when she disappeared Friday and presented it at a news conference Tuesday in hopes of jogging someone's memory.

DeJesus disappeared four days ago while she was walking home from Wilbur Wright Middle School on Cleveland's west side, and friends and family said the teen decided to walk home instead of taking the bus.

Nancy Ruiz, the mother of missing teen Georgina DeJesus, marks her birthday today without her daughter by her side.

Family members said Georgina, known as Gina, would never stay away from home willingly on her mother's birthday. Gina disappeared six days ago as she walked home from Wilbur Wright Middle School.

"She would never run away," her aunt, Peggy Arida, said.

This is so sad. I have a question though: Why are children allowed to decide for themselves that they're not going to take the bus home? It would seem to me that the school has a responsibility to make sure they get on that bus. When I sign my children up for school, I have to tell them how they'll be getting to and from school and absent a hand written note from me, THAT is the ONLY way the school let's them go.

The original story in the newspaper said Gina had the $1.50 to ride the (Public--not yellow school bus) bus home. Her friend wanted to call home and see if she could go over to Gina's house, so Gina gave her 50 cents. The girl's mother said no, so Gina was then short on busfare and had no one to walk to her home with her. The paper also said Gina was not really slow, but in some sort of special ed and apparently naive. This is really sad.

Police want to talk with a man seen driving along Lorain Avenue in the area where 14-year-old Georgina DeJesus disappeared last week.

The man is described as Hispanic, driving a light-colored, older-model compact car with a license plate that includes the letters SMS. Georgina, known as Gina, disappeared a week ago near West 105th Street and Lorain Avenue as she walked home from school.

<Why are children allowed to decide for themselves that they're not going to take the bus home? It would seem to me that the school has a responsibility to make sure they get on that bus.

Gina is 14 years old. Have you ever witnessed a dismissal at a middle school? There is no way that a school could put each and every kid (1,000?) on a school bus or a public bus. Besides, if she spent her money, how could the school make her take a public bus?

Gina made an ill-fated decision after school, when the school's responsibility had ended. She knew how to take a public bus home, how much money it took, so she had some competency. If she accepted a ride home, the problem was naivity, a common problem with middle school students. They just don't fully understand the implications of their actions.

FBI agents went to the Brookpark Road rink Thursday to talk with employees and ask if Gina ever went there, but Special Agent Bob Hawk said the interviews did not yield anything valuable.

" Its the kids and hang around adult they need to talk with to see if an older teen or adult was hanging around."

The day she disappeared, Gina wanted to go to a local skating rink. Schoolmates said the rink is a gathering spot some Friday nights, but Gina had been grounded last week because her father caught her smoking, police said

Children have seen the car, Gingell said.

Thursday, students at Wilbur Wright Middle School on Parkhurst Drive, where Gina is a seventh-grader, said one girl saw Gina talking with a man in a car on Lorain Avenue the day she disappeared.

She got in trouble for smoking...so she's upset rebelling and showing independence....she asked for a friend to stay over and was turned down...another parent has essentially punished her...she decided first to take the city bus then after using part of the money she resigned herself to walk home......the guy who was grooming her at the skating rink..who has been stalking her.....see's her walking home and consoles her about her father grounding her and offers her a ride home........

Gina walked a diverse neighborhood

http://www.cleveland.com/search/index.ssf?/base/cuyahoga/1081589551104462.xml?ncounty_cuyahoga

Westbrook, who represents neighborhoods farther east on Lorain, said there is a "disturbing and unfortunate" drug and prostitution problem that has surfaced in the last five years.

"It's near the interstate," he said. "Word gets out that's where you can purchase sex and drugs."

Burglaries, drugs and prostitution "feed out of each other," said Police Commander Gary Gingell of the area's First Police District. "It's a vicious circle."

FBI searches for missing 14-year-old girl

04/05/04

Joan Mazzolini
Plain Dealer Reporter

The FBI has joined in the search for 14-year-old Georgina DeJesus, missing since Friday.

The Cleveland girl, who goes by Gina, did not come home from Wilbur Wright Middle School on Parkhurst Drive.

Gina, a seventh-grader in special education classes, decided to walk home, family and friends said.

"I gave her the $1.25 to catch the bus because it was cold out side," said her mother, Nancy Ruiz. "But she has the ten dency to walk home and use the money for" after-school snacks.

Ruiz said when Gina walks, she's home by 3:35 p.m. at the latest.

At 3:45, Ruiz said she walked to the corner store to see if Gina had stopped in. She then started calling her daughter's friends.

"No one had seen her," she said.

The family called police about 5:30 p.m. Friday. The FBI joined the search Sunday.

"They offered their assistance and we took them up on it," said Cleveland police Lt. Brian Heffernan of the 1st District.

At the Ruiz-DeJesus home Sunday afternoon, family and friends were picking up fliers to pass out or staple onto utility poles. FBI agents were there, talking to her parents and friends and searching her bedroom. Cleveland police also were there.

200 join search for Gina

Sarah Treffinger

Onita Stewart brought her teenager to Cleveland on Saturday to help find somebody else's child.

They drove from Westlake to join roughly 200 people distributing fliers about the disappearance of 14-year-old Georgina DeJesus.

"It hit so close to home," Stewart said of the news that Georgina, known as Gina, went missing April 2. "I wish we could do more."

Stewart and her daughter, Kristie Strunk, 14, spent the morning going door-to-door on Dale and Thrush avenues not far from Wilbur Wright Middle School, where Gina is in seventh grade.

Gina disappeared as she walked to her West 71st Street home from the school on Parkhurst Drive. She was last seen near West 105th Street and Lorain Avenue.

Saturday's effort, coordinated by City Council members, covered a lot of ground. Volunteers fanned out from West 54th to West 105th streets and from Detroit to Almira avenues, Councilman Matt Zone said. They also focused on a half-mile radius around Gi na's school.

Mayra DeJesus, Gina's sister, said the turnout was "amazing."

"We're grateful," she said.

Before hitting the streets, Gina's relatives, friends and neighbors joined city officials and well-meaning strangers in the parking lot of Zone Recreation Center on Lorain Avenue. Mayor Jane Campbell told the crowd she is hoping for an Easter "miracle."

Marie Buildt's family had already gotten one. The 14-year-old said she was mad at her father when she left home about two months ago.

She spent time in Elyria but returned to Cleveland Friday night.

"It's like they say, 'You don't know what you have until you lose it,' " Marie said.

Lt. Wayne Drummond, a Cleveland police spokesman, said there are "absolutely no indicators" that Gina ran away. He said 12 to 18 FBI agents have been working with police to find her.

Members of Team Adam, a program of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, also are on the case.

Pam Reed, a retired homicide detective from Washington, D.C., and Tom Rodgers, a retired lieutenant from Indianapolis, helped register volunteers Saturday.

They came to Cleveland a few days ago to assist law-enforcement agencies. "When we get a call, we pack our bags and run," Rodgers said. "Then we stay for as long as we're needed."

Councilwoman Dona Brady said residents also are doing what they can to help.

"Unfortunately, as these children become missing, we learn more about how to mobilize a community, how to act, how to get out and spread the word," Brady said.

She noted that Amanda Berry, who disappeared last April after leaving work at the Burger King restaurant at West 110th Street and Lorain Avenue, still has not been found.

Few people will read this............Why do so many of YOU get so interested in a damn psychic? None, nadda, zero ever bring a child home. (although they always try and take the credit from people who put in hard work and effort)

Also seems like most of you read to many damn romance novels and probably do very little to actually get involved in these missing kids......why is one child or adult so much more important than another? If I offend anyone..oh well, next time you're in Nashville look me up and you can help us try and find a girl who's missing? You tell me who that girl is.......is seems she's in towns all over America and people have forgotten who they are!

Buses only pick kids up here if they live at least 5 miles from school. A lot can happen in 5 miles, especially to a young girl walking down Lorain by herself. Cleveland is one of the WORST school districts in the country. The public school system is a joke here. Its almost as dangerous to be in a classroom in some schools, as it is to be walking a dark street alone at night. This city is ridiculous. Our mayor doesn't do CRAP to prevent things like this from happening, she is laying off half the cops who patrol those very streets for her 'budget cuts' meanwhile her kids get personaly cheuferred to private schools by cops getting paid OT to do it.

Sorry, rant over. Needless to say Jane Campbell isn't getting re elected. Anyhow, up in my area, it isn't bad, but its not even a 5 minute drive down Lorain to wheere these girls are vanishing from. There are crackheads and yeah, prostitutes running rampant in that area, that is right over by where the car thief abducted the baby who was in the back of his moms car. Its nothing but deviants and the good people who work hard and try to deal with being stuck in that neighborhood, having to walk to school, deal with the crackhouses and dealers out everywhere and whatnot... its just not fair that things like this can happen. I mean I know it can happen anywhere and it only takes a second to snatch a child but why aren't they hiring MORE police officers to be out and about... SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. How many girls are going to vanish form this area before they do something about it?! :furious:

Obviously, I live in Cleveland, not far from where Gina does. I've grown up here. My husband works at the bank with Gina's cousin, their families are very close. We went to the vigil for her, and today I put her flyers up in our apt building. I live off Lorain Rd, but on the other side of town, just a hop skip and a jump away from W105st. The farther down Lorain you go, the worse it gets. A lot of my friends lived down there when I was younger, my mom grew up on 85th, it used to be a nice middle class area but but the neighborhood has just gotten so bad its scary to even go down there... she's a very pretty young lady, there are so many sick freaks walking the streets, its so sad to think what may have happened to this poor girl.

This case is so sad, and reminds me so much of Amanda, who vanished a year ago after leaving her job at BK only blocks from where Gina was last seen. I knew Amanda Berry, a friend of mine was dating her at the time she disappeared. There were rumors about her going with this other guy in a black monte carlo that she knew, but it was just rumors, it never went anywhere. Its still a mystery one year later, she still has not been found.

Doyle thank you for posting this. My husband asked me if I put her story on this site, and it had totally slipped my mind to do so, so I came to do just that and saw this thread.

All we can do now is pray for a miracle. :(

Trino, yes, I have witnessed a dismissal from a middle school as I have three children of my own, the oldest being 24, the middle is almost 11 and my youngest is 9. However, I had absolutely no idea that these children took a "public" bus, nor did I know that her middle school accommodated 1000 students. In my area, there are only a few hundred children in the school and either their parents, a daycare van or the school district bus takes them home, but thanks for answering my question.

CLEVELAND - It was a difficult Easter weekend for the family of missing 14-year-old Gina DeJesus.

The search for the Cleveland teenager, now well into its second week, continues. However, there's still no sign of Gina, who vanished without a trace two Fridays ago.

Now the grass-roots search is going national. Family traveling from Tennessee over the holiday weekend posted pictures of Gina at rest stops along the way.

Also, another search team is moving into the Cleveland area. Detectives with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children have been called in to assist.

Local police and Mayor Jane Campbell are planning another news conference to update the public on the status of the search.

Stick with 19 Action News for that important information and other details regarding the search for Gina.

Elsewhere, 19 Action News reported that officers checked surveillance cameras at the skating center in Brook Park, where Gina (pictured, above) had planned on attending a party on the night that she ultimately disappeared. Unfortunately, there were no cameras set up in the establishment, and no one recalls Gina attending.

MacFarlane also reported that the FBI spent part of Thursday questioning the missing girl's best friend -- believed to be the last person to see Gina before she vanished.

"We were laughing and giggling and joking around," Gina's best friend exclusively told 19 Action News.

When asked if Gina being grounded by her parents for smoking could have instigated her to run away, especially considering she was not being allowed to go to the skating party later that night, her friend said it wasn't likely.

"When she was around me, she wasn't upset at all," she said.

Detectives with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children also came to Cleveland with a special unit last fall when Shakira Johnson disappeared. They call the special unit Team Adam.

In one year, Team Adam has searched for 93 children and found 86 of those kids. Eleven of those found, however, were already dead, including Shakira.

Team Adam getting directly involved in the search for Gina DeJesus can only help the situation. In fact, the agency is already faxing out flyers all across the state.

Gina vanished without a trace on April 2. She was last seen at approximately 2:30 p.m. when she was making her way home from the middle school she attends. The seventh-grader takes special education classes.

No Amber Alert has been issued in this case because there is no evidence that would help to target a specific suspect or vehicle. However, Cleveland Mayor Jane Campbell held a news conference to assure the public that city authorities and the FBI are doing everything they can to find Gina.

Police and FBI are interviewing neighbors and checking vacant homes and lots. The FBI used a bloodhound that tracked her scent several blocks.

The missing teen’s family joined the mayor and other community leaders to plead for Gina’s safe return.

“It's refreshing to know that perfect strangers care about our darling Gina," relative Sylvia Colon said. “Gina, if you're listening, it's OK. Call us. No one's going to be angry. We just want to get you home."

Gina's family is not alone in their pain. Eleven-year-old Shakira Johnson was abducted and killed last year. Her mother, Alisa Randle, knows what Gina's family is going through.

“I'm just here to support them,” Randle said. “I pray that they don't have to go through what I went through. Keep on praying. Don't stop."

Randle’s words touched the DeJesus family.

“She gave me a lot of thoughts not to give up, and to keep the faith between our kids," Gina’s father, Felix DeJesus, said.

The two families shared hugs and tears as the DeJesus family continues to hold onto hope that their bundle of joy makes it home safely.

“Even though hers is gone, mine is still alive. I pray to God that mine comes home,” Felix said.

Gina DeJesus, who stands at 5’2” tall and weighs approximately 130 pounds, was last seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, black slacks that flair at the bottom, a powder-blue hooded coat with powder-blue Phat Farm shoes.

Cleveland-area kids are safer, but not safe

With the International Children's Games coming to Cleveland next month, this is as good a time as any to take another look at how well we protect local children from sexual predators.

The past two summers, of course, have been marked by the high-profile disappearances or murders of several Northeast Ohio girls.

In the summer of 2002, Kristen Jackson, 15, of Wooster, was abducted from the Wayne County Fairgrounds, sexually assaulted and dismembered. A registered sexual offender confessed to the crime and was sentenced to life in prison.

Last summer, the disappearance of Shakira Johnson, 11, galvanized Cleveland in ways that few crimes have in recent decades. Shortly after her decomposed body was found in a field not far from her East Side house, Daniel Hines, a neighbor already facing a rape charge, was arrested in connection with her death. He is awaiting trial.

Clevelander Gina DeJesus has been missing for two months. Another Cleveland girl, Amanda Berry, has been gone for a year.

And late Saturday afternoon, a man with the word "devil" tattooed on his neck and a scar running from his nose to his ear allegedly abducted and raped a 12-year-old girl who had been walking near her West Side home.

The rapist reportedly detained the child for nearly seven hours before dumping her near a middle school. As of Monday afternoon, police had not identified a suspect, and were asking for community help.

Hi there, this is my very first post and I'm so happy to have found this website, I have been reading posts all day and I feel like I know so many of you already. I'm Nicole from Australia. So please forgive me if I ask something that's been gone over before, but my only knowledge of the cases will often come from these pages. My question about Gina Dejesus is this - are the police linking her disappearance with that of Amanda Berry, and did they note the Burger King link between the two cases? Have these been any updates on either girl in the last year?

The family of Gina DeJesus has seen a picture of the person who may know where their missing child is It's the clue that the FBI hopes will help solve her case.

It's a sketch of a person of interest in the case.A clue drawn up from the memory of a tipster that may have seen Gina before she disappeared.

I did not recognize [the person], but I am hoping somebody does," Ruiz says.

The FBI is still distributing the sketch to friends and classmates of DeJesus. When they release it Thursday, it will be posted here.

Missing Cleveland teen subject of 'Maury'

Monday, October 24, 2005

The parents of missing Cleveland teenager Georgina "Gina" DeJesus will make a national plea for help on Tuesday's edition of the syndicated "Maury," which airs at 1 p.m. on Fox-owned WJW Channel 8.

Nancy Ruiz, 45, and Felix DeJesus, 47, have been searching for their daughter since April 2, 2004. She disappeared on her way home from school. Tuesday's episode of "Maury" will be presented in conjunction with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The police and FBI have turned up a description of the possible kidnapper, but nothing has led them to Georgina DeJesus, who was 14 when she disappeared. Her parents have built a shrine to their daughter with angels sent from people in the community.

During Tuesday's show, host Maury Povich enlists the help of psychic Jeffrey Wands, who thinks that the perpetrator knew the area where their teenaged daughter went missing. He suspects that the kidnapper is a sexual predator who might have spoken with Gina on several occasions before he seized her.

Wands describes the man as black with facial hair, late 20s to early 30s, standing 5-feet 8 inches or 5-foot-9. The show's producers say Wands wasn't aware that the FBI is searching for a man with that exact description. Wands also tells Povich that he believes Gina is alive.

I was looking around for articles on these two and came acrossed the most peculiar wierd strange odd website I have ever read:

http://users.1st.net/mwells/Gina-4-2-04.htm

You have to watch closely and scroll down and click next as there is more and more and more from this woman.

It appears this woman is talking bout a man who she believes is commiting symbolic or duplication type murders. It is very DEEP and mentions gina and amanda. I read the whole thing, and WOW. After reading that site I do find it odd that they were both abducted in april 1 yr apart. In the story this man duplicates his murders based on dates. One of the dates was April....

read it, its amazing. Im half tempted to email the author

you know, it is possible that the writtings could be something, in fact the blog that joseph edward duncan produced " blogging the fifth nail " had lots of clues in it about the things he did, this article that is written in the link you provide could be sent to a fbi criminal profiler, it could be some help? just my opinion.

I believe the woman tried to identify the man to the police, apparently he was a sexual predator with a long history, but apparently they did not consider her theory as credible. Its almost like a grudge theory...For instance, A man falls in love with a woman, the man never gets the woman, however grows to resent her new relationship and the birth of their first child, etc, etc...because it should have been his. So he plays out his rage through victims, killing someone with the same first name, working somewhere named the persons middle name, that was her theory, that he played out his killings from her sister, her, her daughter, and i believe grand daughter.

I wrote the author, and there is soon more to come!

"Dex,

Thank you for writing about my web site and the Gina DeJesus case.

Most of your questions are already answered in various pages within my web site. The Duplication stories explain things a little better, and show why I believe this man became obsessed with me and my family. No, I was never romantically involved with him; neither was my daughter or sister, but, as the years have rolled by, I'm growing more and more inclined to believe it all actually started with my brother's girlfriend [whom he did marry after he returned from the service.] Prior to my brother's untimely death [1986] I have not been able to connect any of the cases to me or my family. Only after Mike's death did this strange phenominea begin - in fact it began the very day we buried him. That story can be found in the Duplication cases also. From there it progressed to include some of my friends also. And it continues to this day.
I am presently working on a new page with 2 more murdered women. If you are interested I would be glad to send you the link to the page as soon as I get it finished. I'm running behind schedule - "too much yard work this time of year!!! It interferrs with my writing!
I need to get my November cases posted on the front page, but as I said, I'm running behind schedule.

PS: Could you please check out the following story; look at the picture of my former sister-in-law and tell me if "you" think she looks enough like the murdered Carol Gordon to be her daughter or sister?

you know, I can't help but to think that this case is similar to the one some years back with two girls going missing months apart that lived in the same apartment complex, turns out the man near there bus stop was the one found responsible, gaddis was the name of one of the girls the last name that is , I can't remember who the other one was but they were friends and went to the same school.

You are thinking of Ashley Pond and Miranda Gaddis. Both middle-school girls were murdered by Ward Weaver. One girl, I think Ashley, knew Ward -- he had been accused of molesting her. The other girl was friend's with Ward's daughter.

Local news reporting that LE has brought cadaver dogs in to help in the search of this home/backyard/garage. A large dirt sifter is being used to sift through 5 gallon buckets of dirt being brought out of the garage. Some interest also being shown in a garden area in the backyard.

Gina's father visited the location earlier today but didn't have anything to say-per reporters.

The other person's name mentioned as arrested is John T. McDonough. He's been living with Hurayt in that home for the past few years.

Lots of questions being asked if the Amanda Berry missing persons case might be part of this too.

Police and the FBI woke up Nancy Ruiz who told her they were searching a house on the west side looking for her daughter.
According to Ruiz, this is different than past tips that police have acted on. In the past, she has not been visited by officers. Rather, she got a call once any discovery was made.

"It's not her," Ruiz said. "I think it if it would have been her, I would have felt it. I'm still hoping she will be walking into my door."

At this time, she is not planning on going to the area where police are searching. Gina's aunt is on the scene.

I always want to hold out hope that both amanda and gina are still alive and can one day come home. after looking at this man he looks to have a lot of guilt on his face and for him to be in the general area it is scary to think what he would have done to them if he is the one, I very much fear that this is the man that took these two girls.

I just found this thread after reading in another area about this. I also wondered if it is related to Amanda Berry. One thing I wanted to add, just because its interesting to me is that I used to live on this street when I was a kid. I lived at 3214 west 50th. This was 28 years ago since we moved, so this guy wouldn't have been around, but still weird reading about it. I was hoping they would show a picture of his house to see if it looked familiar. I had many friends on this street, and the street is several blocks long. I remember they all had detatched garages, and ours had a dirt floor. We also had a huge basement with kind of a crawl space in the wall. I remember my brother having to crawl in there for something and he still has nightmares about it and spiders and he is 44! We also had an attic that was converted into a family room. They are very large houses. My point is, lots of potential places to hide a body. If anyone finds a pic of this house please post it and PM me so I can look. Thanks.

Hi Nore, I am just reading this thread, two years later, but I wanted to add something about what you said. I had a friend murdered back in the 70's the summer after third grade. She was found in an abandoned brewery on Clark Ave next to Clark Elementary School. I still went to that school and that building always made me feel sick. When I was an adult I went back to that very same building and went inside, it had become a U-Haul place. Just wanted to say you are right about those old buildings.

I haven't been able to check out local TV coverage, but I just read where they did not find anything in the person's garage. Here's the newspaper link:
http://www.cleveland.com/cuyahoga/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/cuyahoga/115900066337770.xml&coll=2

The garage is either new or newly sided from appearances. One of the reports on tv said that the cement had been laid for the garage and driveway after Gina's disappearance and onlookers were upset that the entire driveway wasn't taken up.

The tip supposedly came from Hurayt's brother a few weeks ago when HE was arrested for robbing a jewelry store. He told LE that he had heard both his brother and McDonough talking about killing Gina. LE didn't act on it immediately as they were checking things out.

I hope she's alive somewhere and can walk through her family's door someday.

I could be wrong and maybe he was showing up at Gina's vigils, but I thought for sure I heard Amanda's. By the time I got to the tv, that little part was over. I don't even remember what channel it was, as I had just flipped back and forth to get the latest that day.

I really hoped they would find something, her poor parents. I was at the house of a friend of mine Friday night and she was 1 of Gina's teachers and one of the last people to see her when she left school that day. She was very involved in the early on investigation. A few other teachers were over as well and they were scouring the internet for any information on the guys that were arrested. They were really hoping this was a big break and it's just sickening that there can be a house full of sexual predators.

Supposedly the other people in the home were not all sexual offenders, although they had been in jail for one reason or another. Sunday's Plain Dealer reported that most were moving out because everyone thought that they were sexual predators. I think he charged them $90/week to stay there and had 4 rentals. It's no wonder his house and garage looked really nice and updated.

Hurayt also had cameras EVERYWHERE on his property. It wouldn't surprise me if he had (maybe hidden) cameras inside as well. I guess LE would have found those though.

He wasn't well-liked in the neighborhood before all this, and I suspect it will just be worse now. He's still a creep in my books.

Assistant County Prosecutor Jennifer Driscoll said a police dog trained to alert officers to the scent of cadavers "indicated" in three locations at Hurayt's West 50th Street home on Friday that a dead body may have been present at one time.

Two of the locations where the dog sat, the indicator used to alert police, were in Hurayt's garage, where an informant told investigators Hurayt had buried the girl's body beneath a freshly poured concrete floor. Investigators tore up the floor in the garage and under a doghouse.

The dog also alerted to a location in the house, Driscoll said.

Police arrested Hurayt, 35, a registered sexual predator, on Thursday based on the informant's tip. But investigators who dug up the garage floor and searched the house didn't find a body or any physical evidence of the 14-year-old girl, who has been missing since April 2004. Nineteen items removed from the house will be investigated further, Driscoll said.

I may have missed some of the articles that were put out. but are you saying that the shoes and back pack that were found are articles that belonged to gina? or maybe even articles that belonged to amanda? I wonder about the other people of that home, what areas are they from? would be interesting to find out if any of them had access to remote areas such as a farm and so on.

I'll post the links I've read a little later but Hurayt made it his business to take in people released from jail as renters. A husband and wife lived in his basement, for example.

Most of them said they were leaving because "their reputations had been ruined" by the most recent events as they said they weren't sex offenders.

Seems to me like LE would have a lot to look at as far as the backgrounds of everyone that has lived in Hurayt's home all these years.

Tests are being done on the shoes (supposed blood spatter) and the backpack hasn't been identified as far as I've heard.

Gina is such a pretty girl. I wonder what happened to her? Another girl walking home from school and vanishing into thin air just like Amber Harris.

I wonder what made someone think that Gina was buried under a cement floor in the garage? Was that guy going to bury her there but moved her before he poured the cement? That is a possibility. I wonder how far they dug down into the dirt under the cement? He might have dug down pretty far if he left her there. I also wonder if LE took the dogs back after the cement was busted up to see what they would do then.

No news about everything that LE took to have tested out of the attic?

My memory isn't the best, but I believe a brother of the homeowner told police about Gina being buried under the cement in the garage. He had been arrested for a jewelry store burglary and was trying to bargain w/police by giving them that info about his brother. (What a lovely family.)

Her parents were on Maury today. Spoke with psychic Jeffrey Wands. He gave info regarding abduction: abducter knew blocks, knew area for 6-8 months; something about Lorain Ave. ; Sexual predator; Gina knew abductor;black man, facial hair, late 20's early 30s 5'8-5'9; Gina def. alive.; mentioned car light blue compact;

I know alot of people don't buy into psychics. But I thought the info was interesting.

CLEVELAND -- All eyes are on Cleveland for the NBA Finals.
And the families of two missing girls hope more eyes will help in the search for their loved ones.

14-year-old Gina Dejesus disappeared while walking home from school three years ago. Amanda Berry vanished after leaving her job in 2003.

Thursday night at Quicken Loans Arena, the photos of both girls, along with age progression pictures of how they may look currently, will be played on the Cavaliers scoreboard.

"I thanked them from the bottom of my heart," said Nancy Ruiz, mother of Gina Dejesus. "They've given me this chance, this hope."

The photos will be shown before the game and at halftime. And fliers with the girls' information will be taped to the arena's doors.

A friend of both families wrote a letter to the Cavaliers asking for permission to post Amanda's and Gina's photos. The Cavaliers and NBA officals gave their approval.

"You never know," Ruiz said. "If somebody just sees these girls or saw my baby, to call and help me bring my baby home. Both of them."

This happened extremely close to where I used to live. Gina Dejesus and Amanda Barry went missing in almost the same area. These both happened when I was a teen and it was terrifying to be young and living near that. I've kept Gina and Amanda in my prayers and will continue to do something. I just wish they could figure out what happened.

I will make sure I use her labels this week in my 'label campaign'...I will send a pay check to about 150 truckers and on each outside envelope will be her pic and vital stats and also a label stuck on their check stub.

I do these every week. I always do some with Jason Jolkowski because Kelly is the one that started me doing this :D

Darn it. I always find out about these vigils too late. I'll have to make a note for next year though. :(

I could have sworn there was another thread for Gina, but a search didn't bring it up.

Gina DeJesus has been missing for 4 years today. At a vigil, yellow balloons were released, and her mother and family called on people to look at the age progressed pictures of Gina and to keep looking out for her.

Gina is now 18 years old. The pictures are on www.amw.com (http://www.amw.com), I had trouble getting it to load tonight (site wouldn't load at all) but please go check them out. This should be the direct link to it: http://www.amw.com/missing_children/brief.cfm?id=26744

Thanks! I see what I did wrong with the search now - I (unknowingly) only searched the MPIS forum. I'm glad people have already been posting about Gina.
