Thanks, otto! From the Earth view it looks like the garage is detached and you enter it from an alley. The alley very well could have been where a car parked undetected.

I keep bringing this important post by Wondergirl forward too so that everyone who hasn't seen it yet can see that the park is also directly behind:

Sorry, I am behind and trying to catch up. The first kijiji ad we saw (large cupcake holder item) had a large black dog in the photo. The listing said something like, "cute pup not included." Many of us have wondered whose dog that was and where he or she is. There was at least one other kijiji ad that claimed there were no pets in the home so it could be that the cupcake holder and dog photographed beside it belonged to a family member or friend who was "piggybacking" his or her items in the sale.

IMO the dog was a pup, about 9 months old. It wasn't that large in relation to the headboard of the bed that was behind it. The bed was dismantled which gave an impression that somebody was in the process of moving.

In a family member's FB, there is a pic (March 2013) of Nathan and his brother in bed cuddled up with a golden retriever, so still not sure where the black Lab and cake thingy comes into the picture.

That's an interesting thought. There's a road that goes West of the city, connecting with roads that go South to the border. There was an 11 year old girl that was abducted and left to walk home in summer clothing in bear country at dark on a cold night. She was lucky that a hunting group had stayed too late that evening too. They picked her up. She would not have survived the night. It's not that cold in the foothills and mountains right now. Maybe people West of the city should look around the trails. With the 11 year old girl, the intent was to leave her in a sitaution where she would die, but not kill her.

I'll see if I can find the map again.

With the amount of campers out camping/on the road over the weekend, someone would have seen something. I would hope, anyways.

This is my first websleuths post ever.

What I would like more information about is Alvin's occupation. He is president of an Oil & Gas company, but his LinkedIn is sparse and he's been hardly endorsed. Usually executives in the industry have quite a bit of information on LinkedIn. I find it strange. Especially if his wife was into online marketing.

Have any of their businesses declared bankruptcy? Have either of them sold shares in one of their company's by public or private offering? Are they involved in market exempt securities?

I am a mom, my child is a part of me that is separate from my body (how I feel anyway) IMO I think she just just be in survival mode. Self preservation is the strongest human emotion/reaction.

Also she discovered them missing, we don't know exactly what she discovered but she might be in shock, the brain will shut parts down just to cope. At least that's what happened for me after my brother took his own life. I'd get super anxious starry to panic then BOOM I was fine. I don't know if that's relevant but is like to give her the benefit of the doubt until something comes out or she acts super sketchy

So true, and agreed. As a mother of 2 kiddos (one the same age as Nathan), again, if I were in that situation I know I'd need to be medicated... As I'm not sure what my survival mode would be.
I agree with you & other posters in regards to no matter how the parents of a missing child react, it tends to never seem/feel "right"... But that's the point. There is no "right" way to behave normally, in (IMO) would be the most chaotic & UNnormal situation.

Thanks, Hollye, you are a gem.

Here is the updated map. Link below referencing the Parkhill Casino Fundraiser that the Liknes helped raise over 100 thousand dollars to build the tennis court behind their house, from Alberta Lotteries.

Bumping my post to show the back alley, and the Liknes' backyard and garage.

What was LE photographing near that back fence?

There is possibly a forensic van captured in this helicopter footage of their back yard.

What do we know about this laneway?

I think we're ASSUMING that is blood...easier to assume, too, when you see the edited pics that were edited to make the darker stains on the driveway more apparent, in "red."

1. We have no idea if those are in fact 'drag marks'
2 We have no idea how long those discolored areas on driveway have been there.
3 We have no idea if those discolored areas of what were described as "darker fluids" are blood
4 We have no idea what forensic testing revealed

A marks the location of the house.

If anyone stumbles onto a real estate or city planning dept prorperty or house plans, please let me know. I'm wondering if this is a house where one would want to have a look at the floor plans.

The family was in the front yard, the back yard, the garage, and the park on Sunday afternoon. In addition, they had numerous people traipsing through their house. I don't think dogs could do anything except run in circles under the circumstances.

Given a proper scent article (i.e. for Nathan), the dogs would still be able to distinguish his scent from all others ("scent discrimination"). Still would be difficult to follow a youngster in circles around the property. One thing they could accomplish though is going in a radius further out from the house to see if his scent could be picked up a distance from the home (i.e. if a car was parked further down the street where Nathan would not normally walk to).

His mom made reference to a piece of clothing to smell like Nathan but smelled like soap. I wonder if she was referring to a scent article she was asked to provide. Surely she could have found something that he had worn recently that had not yet been laundered.

If Nathan's shoes were left behind at the Gpas, they would have been a good scent article. I suspect they were NOT there which would indicate that Nathan had not been put to bed yet.

I just heard of this case on the new tonight. Such a nightmare for this family to be going through. Not only is their precious child missing, but also two other close family members.

I have to wonder if someone was aware of the estate sale and rob them that night knowing there would be money in the house from the sale. Seems like a robbery gone wrong. Someone got injured or worse therefore the perp(s) decided to abduct all three family members. Wonder if LE have checked out local hospitals to see if anyone came in needing medical attention for suspicious injuries; the perp.

I pray they are all found safe and return to their loved ones soon. What a nightmare. MOO.

That's my impression as well. It seems like a superficial presence, a facade, with no substance. The website/marketing business and the oil ventures didn't seem to go anywhere. I found one link where he was in the Mining field and arranged for workers to go up North for work ... something like that. I think it was delisted in 2008. He was part of a group that signed a patent document in 1974 for a remote ignition switch for lighting a fuse from a distance. Don't have the links anymore ... a search for him excluding this latest news should bring it up.

I still can't see how this could be a robbery gone bad. Usually robbers or home invasion thieves don't kill the occupants of the house and take them with.

Praying for the safe return of this family. A special prayer for Nathan and his siblings and parents. :rose:

It was the laneway that the garbage and recycling bins were lined up in.
It's possible the forensics team was checking all the bins out.
Garbage is not collected on Sundays, so if anything was dumped into the bins that evening, it should have still been there on Monday morning when LE/forensics was there.

According to the City of Calgary garbage day schedule, the garbage was scheduled to be picked up on Tuesday. With it being Canada Day, it might have been collected Monday or today.

Exactly.
It could be something is innocent as drinks leaking out of the bag as it was being carried/dragged to the garbage bins.

What about dogs that are used for the purpose of detecting the scent of decaying tissue? (Not an actual cadaver). I remember hearing that one was used in the Maddie McCann case in the family's hotel room to try to find out if Maddie was deceased prior to being removed from the room. (This is a vague recollection). My understanding of the concept was that such a dog could enter the AL/KL home and possibly detect if anyone was deceased in the home prior to being removed from it.

Perhaps someone with more knowledge about this could chime in.
