It sounds like the defense is trying to discredit the mother of the victims due to the fact that her brother is a murderer and a paedophile. What he did has nothing to do with the mother of the victims IMO.

given that JH was out on parole and parole was revoked a month later when he was reported to have had inappropriate contact with young girls....one wonders aloud if he was victimizing his own children....makes me sad to think that this is a case of repeated abuse of young victims by more than one perp mooo

A man identified as a “person of interest’’ to the investigation into the disappearance of William Tyrrell is applying for bail on unrelated child abuse charges, claiming his alleged victims were “tutored” to make the complaints against him.

Bill Spedding, from Bonny Hills on the NSW mid-north coast, was arrested in April and charged with repeatedly assaulting two young sisters in Sydney during 1987.

His lawyer, Peter O’Brien, told the state’s Supreme Court today that the claims had first been made “in the context of and at the time of an acrimonious ... dispute,” involving Mr Spedding.

The sisters, who cannot be identified, were “tutored” and repeatedly “given very clear and explicit warnings that Spedding was a bad man who would do bad things to them,” Mr O’Brien.

“The children were abundantly aware of things that Bill Spedding was alleged to have done to the children,” he said.

He is facing five charges of sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 10 and two counts of common assault.

The charges relate to alleged assaults on two girls, aged three and six at Campbelltown in Sydney in 1987.

His lawyer applied for bail saying his client had no criminal record and had been caught up in a whirlwind criminal investigation.

But the magistrate refused bail and said the prosecution had a strong case.

Spedding showed little emotion when bail was refused.

Spedding and his wife waved to each other and touched hands through a glass partition before he left the court.

The case has been adjourned until June 18.

Hillsley had spent 12 years behind bars in the ACT for abducting and raping a five-year-old girl and indecently assaulting a nine-year-old girl in 1990.

ACT Chief Minister John Stanhope said federal and NSW authorities had been warned about Hillsley's threats to re-offend.
