Thank you for saying this, LozDa! :loveyou:

This is somewhat O/T, and I hesitate to share this lest someone decide I deserve to be chucked off a balcony, but I have BPD. I'm grateful that public perception of this disease (which is closely related to PTSD and strongly linked to childhood sexual abuse) has improved leaps and bounds in my lifetime. While ignorant stereotypes about manipulation and abusiveness still abound, these damaging prejudices are being challenged and slowly dismantled, thanks in large part to the work of Marsha Linehan.

It pains me to see these outmoded stereotypes promoted here, so I felt it would be the responsible thing to challenge them.

As LozDa said, it's far from the truth to say that people with BPD are all abusers. In fact, it's more likely to be the other way around. Victims of childhood abuse are especially prone to re-victimization later in life.

While my husband and I have had our share of turbulence in our relationship (which is characteristic of interpersonal dynamics for BPD sufferers), I know he would attest that I've never been abusive to him.

There's nothing to indicate that Rrie suffered from BPD, but I am troubled by the implication that somehow, if she had, her death might have been deserved. No one deserves to die the way she did, to have her most vulnerable and private moments laid bare for the world to pick apart and judge in the service of enabling a predator.

Thank you for your candour and courage in disclosing that you live with BPD. I salute you, The One and Only Unique and Precious Christina.

Now she has to consider the optics if she breaks the glass or flings anything off the balcony. It's de-escalation 101. Welcome to the digital age where no one wants to be that fool on YouTube losing their mind, and everyone knows it.

And uses it.

Clevernot. Braaaaaah:

I honestly don't know how locking ANYONE, ANYWHERE, is a de-escalation tactic. It doesn't even work for the police a lot of times. I don't see how locking someone in your home is logical if you want them to leave. NONE of his actions were logical in the slightest.

So he should have knocked her cold? It's a fight. You don't get to call timeout and everybody stops.

Yes, that's exactly what I said. there were many other, logical options he could have chosen. It wasn't like he had to either lock her on the balcony, or knock her out cold, for petes sake!

A new day dawns. May this be the day that justice is delivered.

But if it is not today, that is okay. Take your time jury.

Ch9 News is saying that the jury reconvenes today to 'break their deadlock'.

Female: 'No no no no no no no no no no no no. Just let me go home.'

Male: 'I would but you have been a bad girl.' Sound of door sliding shut.

2.20am: 'Just let me go home. Just let me go home.' Last words of 'just let me go home'. Male - heavy breathing. Faint scream detected.

Sounds like Warriena was still de-escalating when she was begging to be allowed to go home.

When a drunk person is pleading and begging to go home, IMO you pack up their belongings, call them a cab and escort them to the cab to ensure they are safely on their way home.

I think there are people who have not heard the entire recording and are basing their adamant 'not guilty' opinion on the snippets that have been in MSM.

Listening to the entire recording sure made things a lot clearer for me, and led to my opinion of manslaughter.

Once the trial is over, and people can hear the whole thing, opinions may change. People may realise the manipulation and control Warriena was under, only it did not intimidate her until the choking commenced. Then she became terrified.

Unless that kind of behaviour is the norm for them, of course. Then they will not realise it. imo

It's sex. You don't get to say no and not want to continue. Even if you plea for the person to let you leave.

Is this what you are saying.

In the time it takes to read this post, you are expecting the GT miracle solution to be planned, and executed without flaw.

It's a physical altercation. He is obviously not in control of the situation, meaning not every option suggested here is even an option in those seconds.

It's almost like those with the greatest solutions, have never had to put them in practice.

If only life fit so nicely into a soundbite, or a meme.

For example, how does one convince a loved one, who is in fact acting paranoid, that they are acting paranoid, without initially telling them so?

Life is not a quip, and a thank you.

I will never 'unhear' that recording SA. Not. Ever.

You act like he was in a battle with ISIS more like a fly and then add in the "get up" "get up" how threatening was she if she was lying down?

Of course not. If she is physically coming at him, does he make the timeout signal with his hands, or does he restrain her? It's the reality of the situation we are all discussing.

Life is not as simple as a meme.
