2010.12.21 Stream of Motions - General Discussion

For Sleutherontheside, thank you for all you do here.

I most certainly do remember the showboating of Cheney to the court personnel, very rude, promising them that mic would NOT be allowed to remain on that desk. Guess what? Judge Strickland told him, it has a mute button buddy, use it. heh

Listen very closely in the beginning, it seems Jose is telling him so and so said he can remove it and the court worker said, no, that is not what I heard. You take it up with the judge. Love him!
Cheney Mason telling the clerk personnel, "One thing I can assure you is that microphone is not going to be on while I sit here". The gentleman replied, "You can take that up with Judge Strickland when he comes in". The defense most certainly has known there were hot microphones there from jump, to pretend to be shocked by it now is just silly. Even Casey has the habit of reaching for the mute button before she speaks.

All of these sudden flurry of motions is just a drop dead date hurry to the courthouse steps. Judge Perry said to them "Anyone who doesn't believe in due dates will find out they may get left out in the cold."

who is this new attorney Lyons or is she old?

Casey's former attorney (now gone from the team) was Andrea Lyon (without an s). And I guess you could say she is old.

Jerimiah Lyons (with an s) is the current PI working for Baez and annoying the TES searchers.

Without a link to what you are looking at, this is the best I can do. HTH. :seeya:

Yes, TWA you are awesome!!!!!!!!! That first video you posted also shows the camera that probably got the shot that has the defense team's panties in a wad.

Did anyone see the motion from the State that was in the slew of motions filed on Dec.30, 2010. It seems that they are fed up with the defense team accusing the State of leaking info to the media.
As for the picture taking in the courtroom, it makes me nervous that on another blogging site, the host that attends all the hearings has a picture of the court from one of the upper floors on his site and insinuates that this is not really allowed. As the cameras are not behind Casey could someone from the gallery try to take a shot of what she is writing. Why do they allow phones and cameras in the courtroom. The objection that Baez staged at the last hearing seems to reflect what was already out there on other sites. Anybody??

This really makes me nervous, because in reading in his article he states that if he is able to "sneak" in his camera, next time he will take a picture of the courtroom.

I heard two "new" things after reviewing the part 1 video.

Cheney Mason asked where the mute button was. Ummmmmmmm was this his FIRST visit to the Orange County Courthouse???? I mean....are we supposed to believe he had never seen the mics before????

Cheney Mason commented If I need a federal something to tell me.......

This may not be the right thread, but did the defense meet their deadline on who the mitigation specialist was going to be ? Wasnt that supposed to be filed by today ?
Tia.......

Mods if you need to just beam me where I am supposed to be :)

"He" is one of the reasons this trial has taken so long and has a new judge. I could not believe "he" would post on his blog that he had taken a picture of the courtroom (empty) ....shhhh - because he knew that was definitely not "allowed". Talk about a :loser:

I don't know who you are speaking of - is it MD? (just saw logical confirm!)

Anyway, :fireworks::welcome::fireworks:

Fine here. If you'd like, you can also use the "LIST Questions..." thread. HTH.

Ya Think????........ :innocent:

........ :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Good guess - who else? and Welcome Fellow Canuck!

:great: Too funny!!!!!!! But, I do see a problem with that solution - KC and JB will be fighting over viewing rights - as I think they both like looking at themselves.
Wait - if KC hasn't seen herself in a mirror lately - we could get the penalty phase before the trial even starts! Someone build a defense table rear view mirror! LOL

i agree. B.also needs a horn on his chair! :floorlaugh:

OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is talent!!!

It appears to referencing the case of Matthew Bent and Jesus Mendez. I think this is the doc..... http://www.4dca.org/opinions/Sept%202010/09-29-10/4D10-2726%20&%2010-2727.op.pdf

It does appear to be that doc. If so, that photo would've probably been taken during the 10/29/10 hearing where the defense argued citing Bent as precedent for sealing the jail logs, phone calls, commissary purchases. Their motion was shot down....AGAIN.

So it took them 2 months to file this???

The argument about the open mics is a joke, imo. All of them have known since day one that the mics were hot and to press the mute button if they wanted to converse privately at the defense table. Andrea Lyon used to keep a finger on the button nearly the entire time. Baez was well aware, too. They have just become complacent and now they're ticked off that they were busted. If what they want to say is THAT private, they should always assume the microphone is "hot" and press the mute button.

I'm gonna duck now as I say, I do think that telephoto lens is too strong to be allowed. I can't blame them for complaining about that one.

Hello Joan! As Sots said, what a compelling first post!!!

MAJOR food for thought....:innocent::innocent::innocent:

Well, I agree with you there. They need to tell people to keep their cellphone out of sight and off while they are in court. Today with the cameras in the phones it is easy to take pictures undetected. Doctor's offices, DMV, etc. all have signs now. Turn off you cell phone beyond this point. Court needs to crack down on them. Post warnings if necessary. And the gum chewing, too. LOL
