I will respect what decisions are made re: scanner thread.
In the meantime, I am for freedom of information. I don't quite get keeping things hush hush that could be important. I'm all for reserving privacy and rights re-specific and personal info.
But, if, as in this case, it may be that there was more time and space in which Jessica went missing than 3 blocks and 5 minutes, that would be important to know. IF it could be a school or park worker she came in contact with, or some other child's parent or neighbor, I think that would be good info for people to know - to protect their children from and to notice something specifically about certain people.
that might be unwise or naive, though. I can see how it could become a witch hunt with too much info.

I think, personally, everyone should try to transcribe a scanner and understand how hard it is to get every spoken detail (especially when you do not live in the area) and you have a different channel talking in each ear!!

What I type here can be seen by all; what is typed in the scanner thread if for members only but somehow the line is now blurred (and I'm not sure I like that but rules are meant to be changed when needed).

I like "what happens in the basement, stays in the basement". I also appreciate it when members notify about breaking news happening upstairs.

I wanted to add my :twocents::twocents:

This article has probably already been posted, but thought I'd quote a snippet:

The FBI and bloodhounds have been canvassing (Jessica's) neighborhood and an adjacent neighborhood, along with surrounding areas on Thursday.

http://denver.cbslocal.com/2012/10/11/jessica-ridgeway-neighborhood-alert/#.UHg34VPpR4g.twitter

At this late date (1 week since her abduction), would any traces of Jessica still be in the neighborhood after a dusting of snow and the passage of time? I'm just trying to figure out why bloodhounds are being used in the canvassing. TIA

Could bloodhounds be used to track a perp?

yah, right?
it's weird.

Not up to speed on the scanner postings, so maybe I'm not understanding the events, but...

Hindsight is 20/20, but why didn't the father or son call JR's mom to say she didn't show up?

I was wondering this same thing but wasn't sure if I missed it. Jessica and J had been in contact. He knew she was walking for sure by that phone call, right? So wouldn't they find it odd that she never showed up? I think I'd start to worry about the other child... maybe he tried to call Jessica's mom and she had already gone to bed and didn't answer?

Me, too. When scanner stuff gets mixed in with the discussion thread, it gets hard at times to figure out if a poster is talking about something they read in MSM or something they read/heard in the basement. JMO

I think it was one call, friend's Dad estimated the call came in at 7:30 and JR's mom told LE the call was made at 7:40. Both times are prior to her alarm which was set to go off at 7:45. But there seems to be lots of time discrepancies as the very first part of the rewind says that the first call to LE (as heard on scanner) came in around 4:23 PM and both JR's mom and friend's dad say she called at him at 4:30 PM. I thought she called him, searched a little bit and then called LE but I could not be remembering something I read somewhere in these thousands of post correctly. Just seems like a lot of time and communication discrepancies... but I guess that happens in the mass chaos of having a lost child.

Here is where it gets even more confusing for me.
As taken from the family interview (see link at end)
05:33 <apprx in video> /mother speaking: "I make sure she's gonna meet her friend cuz its snowing, and I watch her & its the last time I saw her..."

The above comes after she does the recounting of the mornings routines.
04:42 <apprx in video> is mom laying out morning routinem including the 7:45am alarm clock.

Now to me, this insinuated that the call was made then, after the routine. What else could mom have meant by "I make sure"? I suppose it could mean that she asked JR if she'd made arrangements earlier in the morning.

As far as calls made to "friend" later in the day upon the mom finding out JR is missing...maybe this is adding to confusion:

Again from video:
09:00 <apprx from video/mom speaking/me paraphrasing:
Mom thinks maybe, just maybe, the school made a mistake and mom drives by the park. JR not there. " I go to Friends & friends not answering.."
Mom then goes to school (JR obviously not there), mom goes to friends again "and still....and you get a pit in your stomach..." <mom breaks down here in heartbreaking tears>

When someone says "not answering", perhaps that was taken to mean a phone call. But from the interview ...I take it to mean not answering the door because its said in context of an in person visit?

The current changes in the scanner discussion being allowed upstairs are on a trial basis and future decisions on if this will continue to be allowed will be partially based on how people use (or abuse) it on this thread. This is what I am being told by one of the Co owners. This thread however is not a place to have that discussion on whether we agree or disagree with it. Let's get back to Jessica.

did anyone see on Denver news 4 the interviews with the neighbors of where the body was found?

the man spoke of seeing a green truck with a man walking the area where the body was found. he said he'd never seen the green truck or the man before and he knows pretty much everyone who walks down there.

the lady said she saw a car stop on the bridge and just stay there a few days ago.

maybe the suspect scouted out the area in a car, then returned with the body in the truck.

where's the green truck now?

Neighbors there would be few and far between, but there are houses and it would make sense them noticing things out of the ordinary.

Apparently parts of Jessica are still missing so.........

God I hate typing things like that.

I do feel sorry for the friend's father, probably realizing later that he should have checked into why Jessica never arrived that morning. He must feel horrible about ignoring the situation. He probably thought she got sidetracked or was late and grabbed a ride from a friend or something. But as parents and teachers, we need to start being accountable and responsible about our children. If a 10 yr old child is out walking, someone needs to be keeping track of where they are supposed to be and when they re supposed to arrive. JMO

What a sweet young lady. My heart is aching for her parents and for her.

Hello WS'ers...I have been a long-time lurker here, since Ayla Reynolds went missing (that is my general neck of the woods) and have followed many cases. You people are just amazing, wonderful people and it feels like I share my heart with you as I grieve the losses of people I've never met.

Anyway, I'm hoping for apprehension of the despicable creature who did this, just like you all. It's nice to have a community of like-minded folks.

Hi, mamame:seeya:

I'm glad you joined us, and I hope you remain with us. This is a terrific group of folks with a wide variety of opinions, and all sorts of interesting discussions.

I'm certain LE has nailed down the exact times of calls, very early on. I think its only us, the public, who are confused by various reports and the way things are stated.

Omg, the new picture of ((Jessica)). THank you for sharing that here...I hadn't seen that one before. Such a lovely young lady. Heartbreaking

Wow, 209 guests? That's great! Feel free to join us, everyone!! We would love your input!

Is it OK if I post Jessica's aunt's Twitter? Not to sleuth her or anything, but she's very public about the fact that she's J's aunt and is providing some valuable insight into how things are going...Not sure if it's against the TOS so I figured I'd ask first.

Well said. I TOTALLY AGREE!!

If he knew about the arrangements and knew her mom slept during the day, especially.

I wonder if the perp would have taken someone else, or if they just happened to spot Jessica all alone, no one looking, and it was an instinctive/spur of the moment decision thing.

nope, sorry...

ETA: The reason for this is because we have no way to verify the person.

I agree here. We, the public, are not privy to all of the info that LE is.

Also agree on the new photo. So sad. :(
