Interim discussion regarding questions from the jury and Arias on the stand #81

According to Daryl, didn't they both filed bankruptcy after they let the house go into foreclosure? I don't think she had any credit. She certainly doesn't in any of her stories!!

Good One LOL

they honed in on Jodi almost immediately as the primary suspect. (as an aside, who calls the investigating officer while he's still at the scene of the crime responding to the 911 call???) so I would imagine it didn't take very long before they got to Walmart. Wouldn't it be great if they had video of her buying the gas can, but no video of her returning it during the brief period of time she was still in salinas? But I would imagine they don't or the defense would know about it, and they wouldn't let her go on and on with the story about returning the can. this really is a pivotal point. if she lied about the third gas can, the jury can assume (if they don't already) that everything she's said is a lie. one of the most fascinating criminal cases ever...

[edit: it would be even better if the video showed her buying the gas can as a blonde, before she "got her nails done"...]

the third gas can really makes her look bad since she lied 2 or 3 times or more about it. imho if she did not premeditate she wouldn't care if it was known how many cans she had, but being so deliberate to deny it. confronted about buying the can at walmart, but insisting she returned it. didn't she say she returned it because she decided she didn't need it? how in the world is she going to explain this? getting back to DB's testimony, prosecutor martinez said jodi called him more than once to borrow the gas cans and got "testy, right?" DB denied she got testy. where did P. martinez get the idea she got testy over the cans? i think she did get testy and DB covered for her. imho testy over the gas cans with DB, in a panic to borrow money for mesa trip from P stern, adds up to no good.

Remember she had visited her boyfriend and his family before on an exchange program in Costa Rica. Therefore the passport.

Oh yes!
I had forgotten about that!

Certainly nothing a young lady would note in her daily journal, or ever mention to anyone for four and a half years...

She would have gushed about it on one of her TV interviews in that sugary sweet kid voice... "we were practically engaged. it's really tough being an almost widow! This ruined my life."

One of the 3 Starbucks skaters probably hid it. They planned it all: one on the front license plate, one on the back, one on the phone charger. Sounds like JA logic to me!

Her immediate retort to the cop who pulled her over --due to the upside-down plate was (paraphrasing) "One of my friends must've been playing a joke on me"

I mean....why not be authentically surprised and say "wow. That's weird. I wonder how that happened?"

The fact that she always has immediate 'excuses' isn't serving her innocence too well!!

Please tell me the jurors are as cynical as I am and not buying any of her testimony. Please restore my faith in humanity and tell me, it's not just me!?

Yea most likely, and possibly for if the car overheated in the desert.

Most rental car companies will take care of problems, should they occur. However HER problem was she wasn't supposed to be in AZ so god-forbid she needed to use her phone or needed assistance.

The exchange program her "abusive parents" helped pay for?

ICE CUBES

ICE CUBES

I have always kept water bottles in back of trunk, without looking there are probably seven right now. We have double wall stainless steel thermoses and if water is warm, South Texas sun, over ice is cool in seconds. We spend quite a few hours out, Sea World etc, nice to have extra water available

She has testified she has not had any mental health treatment, while answering a Jury question, and any treatment or prescriptions now would be administered at the jail.

MOO
She also said she didn't have ACCESS to counseling - that's another lie. They provide it a jail in the medical wing, and on NG one of her jail mates said that's where Jodi told her some "stories".
I don't think the state can follow up on that without getting into the facilities of a jail, and I think that's prohibited, right?

BBM

Didn't we hear at some point during the proceedings that she took on this posture during the memorial service? Feigning the grieving widow routine? Ick.

Sandy Arias and the Court know what she reported privately in Judge Stephens's Chambers, off camera and out of the jury's hearing, but we do not.

What we do know from the minutes is that Her Honor voir dired all 18 jurors.

We also know that the trial then proceeded as scheduled, ostensibly with all 18 of the originally-selected jurors.

I've seen no indication of any other outcome, Sandy Arias's evidently specious claim notwithstanding.

Not sure if this is when one of the juror's was approached by the media and the judge said she had arranged to have them escorted to and from the bus each day by security. MOO

All that was said was "do you even have a passport", and she said yes. Nurmi QUICKLY changed the subject
Kinda like when he changed the subject immediately after asking her what she told Alyce LaVoilette. That one made my head spin.

he's using DB's own words. he took a sworn deposition from him at some point and DB apparently said that. he didn't put it in his face and show it to him, but he said it. nurmi didn't object, as i recall maybe we'll hear from DB again?

Yes, if there is one thing cleared up by her testimony it is the need for the two bottles of face cleaner she bought at Walmart.

I hope they wash her mouth out with soap before they euthanize her

Using the cleanser to remove make up while on her road trip? It was also hot weather and she's driving through the desert. However, one would think she would have the A/C on inside the car.

Well If JA testified to it on the stand, it HAD to be the truth. She was under oath afterall...

PS
I do not mean this in a bad way~ as to your quote. I just couldn't let that slip by

What a nice positive entry that would have been in her journal. I guess she plain old forgot to make mention of it. It wasn't that important. Rrrright!

Here is my question:

Is there any logical reason why she refilled the 3 gas cans in Salt Lake City if she was not driving through Arizona on her trip home? I first assumed it was to remain "off the grid" in terms of purchases in Arizona on the trip back but she didn't go that way.

Do you think she filled those gas cans in SLC to further corroborate her story about filling the gas cans to avoid spending more money on higher priced gas in California? I assume she had burned all her evidence by that point, so she didn't need the full gas cans anymore...

Yes and did'nt she drive it at night?

Exactly.....yet another lie. Also surprised the defense team hasn't suggested it for her and gone down that route for her instead of "self-defense" which is NOT working.
