O/T- This is an official, Canadian complaint. It is -34 degrees today where I am, and I am literally sitting in my office with my winter toque, jacket and mittens on, because the heat can't keep up!!!! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!
 
Dear Locals, what is your newspaper, radio and TV stations saying?

That site has all the routes and times on it but I can't find a bus that goes by HEs condo specifically.. some of the maps are kind of hard to see.

I can't figure out if the Waccamaw on the map I linked refers to the river or a street (which I can't find- lots of businesses with the name of the river in it, though). If someone had a boat docked at PTL they could ditch the car, take the boat, dock it elsewhere before hopping on a bus I suppose..

JMO...Am not sure there is a connection, Amber was last seen on May 3, 2013 at 1 p..m , paying her cable bill at the Time Warner Office in North Myrtle Beach. A few hours later that afternoon, and less than 2 miles away on Old Sanders Road under a Robert Edge Parkway overpass. Amber's body was found close to her car, her car was running and her cellphone was inches from her hand . The location where her body was found is 15 miles from the Tilted Kilt , 18 miles from HE's apartment and 25 miles to PTL

No. My guess is that 99% of the people using that particular boat landing are fishermen. If I were a fisherman/woman, I wouldn't use PTL to put my boat in the water. I'd be afraid my vehicle or boat trailer wouldn't be there when I returned. No disrespect intended for anyone who lives down that way but, the area scares me.

This, of course, is just my opinion.

Back in the day, I walked from one side of town to the other and back (even when I had a bike).

When I was on my bike, I would ride 10 or more miles from my home and back on a regular basis.

If someone did something bad, I don't think they would worry too much about how far or long they would have to walk IMO.

Took a look at the site...I am not sure I would use the word impressive, but they are not turning a blind eye, and are certainly spreading the word..which is great. However, that FB is likely run by 1 or 2 people and does not account for each employees whereabouts between 2 and 3am on the night in question.

I am simply pointing out that the timing of TK closing & employees leaving is consistent with the time that she went missing. IMO. I draw no firm conclusion from that...it is just something that I will keep in mind.

A fact sheet and timeline that can be regularly updated.

I am also seeing a lot of new visitors and members that are asking a lot of the same questions over and over again from earlier posts. Not that it is necessarily a bad thing but, a fact sheet could help newcomers know what's already been discussed.

PTL is not "on the way" to anything. It is 2.5 miles away from any routes she'd be travelling (unless it was the family's other property out there, which is still about a mile/mile and a half from PTL). It is almost 3/4 of a mile down a dead end road that ends at the water there. So, even if she was travelling Peachtree Road to Hwy 814 (which is an "avoid summer traffic" shortcut many of us locals know and use), she would still be, at minimum, 3/4 mile from the landing. There would have been no traffic to avoid and 814 is out of the way otherwise, especially from her condo.

If a fake LE was pulling her over, even close to the landing for whatever reason, she would pull over on Peachtree or Mill Pond. No reason to lead LE to the end of a fairly deserted 3/4 mile long dead end road before pulling over.

As for meeting someone at PTL, there are places much closer to her condo that would be equally far from prying eyes if she didn't want to be seen meeting someone.

I just don't buy these theories.

Yes, these are my thoughts as well. I live North of Wilmington and we have a lot of boat landings as well. Unless you are an avid boater, a good portion of them you wouldn't know about. For the road leading to the landing is on a dead end road, it seems so odd that she would drive there for a 'fake' police stop or to be just 'driving'. I wonder if the road is clearly marked as a dead end road or has some signage indicating the boat landing is down there.

If there is no obvious signage, then only a local would know it was dead end road with a boat landing to begin with.

I also agree, even for a young adult familiar with the area, I just don't can't imagine that an area like that would be the choice. Those landings are dark dark dark. Lots of overgrown trees etc .. They can be super spooky.

I do wonder if anyone else has found any confirmation that her car was locked. I am still looking for an article that specifically states that. My only thinking is that is a habit if she had a remote lock. I drove my husbands old van for a week. I consistently hit the remote button to lock the car that didn't exist all week. Habit to do it as I am walking for the door. But definitely odd.

I am curious why Tidewater Rd. was originally chosen as a search site -- aside from the close proximity to Heather's condo as well as Tidewater being a dead end with less chance of vehicles driving by to observe criminal activity.
 
I have a couple of questions and it's a little off topic, but if LE suspected a previously convicted/registered sex offender could they question them because of their suspicion or do they have to have cause? And another question, RM is registered and there is a post going around on social media saying he was at Celebrity Square a few nights ago. I saw online he's now driving a newer model green camry, is there some type of tracking on the new model cars that can be checked? Why is he hanging in Myrtle Beach and especially in Celebrity Square? That just disgusts me. Sorry to ramble.

I think convicted offenders can be questioned for alibis. At least, we have seen it in other cases.

The time of 10pm on the 17th still has me puzzled. Is it confirmed that the date picked her up at home? Is it confirmed that she was actually at home when she called her mom at midnight or could she have still been out alone? I think maybe an ex was jealous over the date or she met someone out there that was in a relationship and they were being discreet.

Just curious, has it been said if her and her roommate were really close friends or just roommates? Not that it would really matter except that a close friend would probably have more info.
