http://abcnews.go.com/US/george-zimmerman-released-florida-jail/story?id=16727196

George Zimmerman walked out of jail on $1 million bond today to await his trial on charges of killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

Dressed in a gray suit covering a bullet-proof vest, Zimmerman walked out of Seminole County Correctional Facility just before 3 p.m., flanked by a body guard and an unknown man.

Zimmerman released on bail under stricter terms

ORLANDO, Fla. — George Zimmerman is out of jail again, but the rules have changed since the last time he was released on bail after being charged in the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin.

When he was freed in April, Zimmerman was allowed to leave Florida — his ultimate destination kept secret by his attorneys for his safety. He had a 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew and couldn't have any guns, but beyond that Zimmerman enjoyed many of the freedoms of people not facing a murder charge.

Now a judge who believes Zimmerman misled the court about his finances is requiring him to stay in Seminole County. He also must be electronically monitored, can't open a bank account, obtain a passport or set foot on the grounds of the local airport. He has a 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew...

Did George Zimmerman try to get away with murder?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...y-with-murder/2012/07/09/gJQA6E4UYW_blog.html

Supporters of George Zimmerman don’t like my raising questions about his story of how he came to kill Trayvon Martin on Feb. 26. They jump on any and every story on Trayvon’s past — some true, some erroneous, some flat-out false — to justify Zimmerman taking the life of the unarmed 17-year-old. Yet, when it comes to Zimmerman’s questionable present-day actions that led to his bond being revoked and a stiffer one being imposed, these same supporters are mute.
-------

When Lester imposed the $1 million bond on July 5, he made it clear that he was sure Zimmerman and his wife were preparing to leave the country.
------

"The increased bail is not a punishment. It is meant to allay the court’s concern that the defendant intended to flee the jurisdiction, and a lesser amount would not ensure his presence in court."

Zimmerman’s supporters cling to the belief that Trayvon was a because of mostly false reports about his past. Yet, they willingly ignore his troubling present-day actions that Lester judged to be Zimmerman preparing to escape prosecution. If Zimmerman didn’t do anything wrong, why was he trying to run?

SANFORD, Fla. -

A memorial to Trayvon Martin has been moved from the entrance to the neighborhood where he was slain.

A community group and Martin's parents asked for something to be placed back at the site, so the teen is not forgotten.

Sanford City Manager Norton Bonaparte said he was under the impression the time had come to move forward and remove the memorial as part of the healing process and thought everyone was in agreement, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

George Zimmerman evidence, including FBI interviews, to be released Thursday

Special Prosecutor Angela Corey on Thursday releases another round of evidence in her second-degree murder case against George Zimmerman, including a first look at what FBI agents have turned up in their civil rights investigation.

Nearly a dozen FBI agents interviewed several Sanford police officers, including the case's lead investigator, Chris Serino. They also talked to Zimmerman's former girlfriend, who accused him in court paperwork of being violent; neighbor Frank Taffee; several unidentified civilian witnesses and several gun shop employees, including those who worked at the store where Zimmerman bought the gun he used to shoot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

After interviewing nearly three dozen people in the George Zimmerman murder case, the FBI found no evidence that racial bias was a motivating factor in the shooting of Trayvon Martin, records released Thursday show.

Even the lead detective in the case, Sanford Det. Chris Serino, told agents that he thought Zimmerman profiled Trayvon because of his attire and the circumstances — but not his race.

Serino saw Zimmerman as “having little hero complex, but not as a racist.”

The evidence against George Zimmerman includes photos of Martin's bloodied sweatshirt and separate hoodie with a single bullet hole.

According to the documents, scientists noted a layer of soot around the bullet hole as clear evidence he was shot at very close range – something Zimmerman claims was necessary to save his own life during an altercation with Martin.

The lead Sanford Police investigator who sought manslaughter charges against George Zimmerman told the FBI that a sergeant and two other officers tried to pressure him into making an arrest in the controversial case — even though he didn’t think there was enough evidence.

Sanford Police Officer Chris Serino first made headlines when evidence released in the case showed he sought manslaughter charges against Zimmerman even while his chief publicly said there was no probable cause to arrest him. But a document released late Thursday casts doubt on Serino’s prior sworn affidavit seeking criminal charges, and raises questions about the credibility of the star law-enforcement witness in the murder case against Zimmerman for the shooting death of a black teenager, Miami Gardens high school junior Trayvon Martin..

George Zimmerman asks for new judge again

http://www.centurylink.net/news/read.php?id=19003667&ps=1011&cat=&cps=0&lang=en

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — The ex-neighborhood watch volunteer charged with killing Trayvon Martin asked for a new judge Friday, claiming the current one is biased because he said George Zimmerman had "flaunted the system."

Zimmerman said in a motion he feared he would be unable to get a fair "stand your ground" hearing or a fair trial with Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester presiding over the case. Lester was appointed in April after Zimmerman claimed a potential conflict of interest with the original judge........

A spokeswoman for the state attorney's office said in an email Friday that prosecutors object to the defense motion and will file a formal response early next week.

A spokeswoman for the judge said he wouldn't comment Friday but would address the matter later.........

"Mr. Zimmerman fears that the court has already decided that he is not worthy of belief regardless of the type of proceeding or the corroborating evidence that would support his testimony," the motion said.

In the height of the national outcry over the shooting of Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman hid out for over a month in nearby Lake Mary at the home of a man prosecutors say is federal law-enforcement agent — a former Seminole County Sheriff’s deputy who was pressured to quit after he was duped by a con artist.

He was the friend who taught Zimmerman how to shoot and hosted his graduation party. As lesser acquaintances granted television interview after television interview, Mark Osterman never showed his face even as he offered shelter to a friend in need just when he had become one of the most controversial people in America.

ALLAHASSEE -- Florida’s controversial “Stand Your Ground” law continues to enjoy widespread support among likely voters, even as a state task force considers rewriting the law, according to a new Tampa Bay Times/Miami Herald/Bay News 9 poll.

Nearly 65 percent say the 2005 law — which allows people who believe they are in grave danger to use deadly force to defend themselves — does not need to be changed. There’s less consensus when it comes to voters’ thoughts on the Trayvon Martin shooting, which thrust “Stand Your Ground” into the national spotlight this year.

Voters are essentially split about whether George Zimmerman — who faces second-degree murder charges for shooting the 17-year-old Trayvon on Feb. 26 — was acting in self-defense when he pulled the trigger. Forty-four percent believe he was and 40 percent say he wasn’t, while 16 percent are not sure. Major differences emerge when voters are separated by geography and race.
