I can find no thread for this case. I'll do a bit more research and add to it as I find info. Poor woman. 93 and stabbed in her own home. Very disturbing, given the age of the killers. This is not what I call "dabbling". This is murder with a motive based in satanic beliefs. I don't care what the FBI says about just looking at the crime. I do consider the motivation...especially when a woman is viciously murdered.

Rest in peace, Ms. Roszak.

'Satanic Thrill Killing' Suspect Sentenced

"Hayward, WI - One of the suspects in a brutal murder in a small northern Wisconsin town has been sentenced today. 16 year old Austin Davis was sentenced to 40 years - 25 behind bars, and 15 on extended supervision.

and

"....Austin Davis and another suspect, Christopher Roalson, are accused of breaking into the home of 93 year old Irena Roszak in May of 2009 and stabbing her repeatedly.

Authorities describe the murder as a satanic 'thrill killing'.

OK, here's some background:

http://www.wqow.com/Global/story.asp?S=10343381

"Chris Roalson, 27, and a 15 year old [now officially identified as David Austin] were arrested in connection to the death. According to the Sawyer County Record, investigators say the teenager told them Roalson asked him if he wanted to go and kill someone. At first, they targeted a couple at their home, but a motion light came on which scared them off.

Investigators say their next stop was Irena's home. The teen told them as Roalson was stabbing Irena, he was yelling at her, telling her to worship Satan. No charges have been filed, but both suspects are being held on bond which was set at $1 million...."

and

"....Investigators say she had been stabbed 15 times in her bed. She was 93 years old.

Odd, how there isn't much press but I did find this:

http://www.dreamindemon.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-19111.html

"....one of them said he knew an old woman lived there and that they shouuld go in and 'kill her.' [Sheriff, James] Meier says Roszak was alone at the time. Two days later, someone checking on her found her body and called investigators..."

and

"....Meier says Roalson described himself as a ‘Son of Satan'. He also says after the murder, Roalson went back to his own home and turned a crucifix upside-down. Meier says Roalson did that to signify that 'Satan is now the king.'..."

more details about Roalson at link, not much about the teen.

Took the teen out "on a lark"???? A lark? You mean on a murderous rampage? Jeesh.

Austin Davis to be Tried as an Adult

7/13/10

"....Roalson has requested a speedy trial. He told us Roalson's court date will be coming up next month.

I find no trial date either past or upcoming for Roalson. I guess he gave up the plan of a speedy trial just like Iagulli and Pierson did when they murdered Zachary Irvin--another horrid crime with satanic overtones.

This is chilling:

93-year-old victim's daughter wants answers

"The daughter of an elderly woman who was killed last month says accused murderer Christopher Roalson was kind and polite and she knew him since he was four years old..."

and

"....KM [Ms. Roszak's daughter] says Roalson was raised with her son. They played together and she was his teacher at Winter High School. She says he was always kind and polite and she never saw the anger it must've taken to kill her mother...."

more at link

I'm assuming that the daughter of the murdered woman was Roalson's teacher. And teachers are quite observant. She saw no red flags. What happened?

I'm starting to think that those who have lost family members and friends in satanic rituals/crimes need to have some sort of support group for their very special needs. We have groups for domestic violence and sexual abuse survivors. We have groups for those who have lost loved ones to drunk drivers. But who else experiences this level of gruesome onslaught of pure hatred? Who do these families turn to?

I'm left shaking my head wondering what went wrong with these young men and why. He knew the woman since he was a toddler. He was polite and kind to her and she to him.

I grasp the motivation behind many crimes. I really do. I don't condone them and would never commit them but I get it. The satanic ritual killings, I don't get. It just ruins me.

Rowdy reading things so close to my hometown for once. Sad, confusing, and so wrong. So this guy met the love of his life he missed from 10 years and then commits a random killing?

The comments from http://www.weau.com/home/headlines/44482242.html are pretty interesting even though just opinions of family..

Am I the only one to be continuously incensed about FBI Special Agent Kenneth Lanning's position on satanic rituals? He doesn't believe in them and says that LE must concentrate on the crime and ignore the motivation. He's been speaking on this issue for at least two decades with little change in his tone. He swears that not a single case can be corroborated. He said this in an interview this last July. Not a single one? Really?

http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=6251401n&tag=contentBody;housing"]Web Extra: Interview with Ken Lanning - 48 Hours - CBS News

"...His investigation into reports of occult ritual crime concluded that there is no evidence of any satanic murders...."

Agent Lanning is the spokesman for the FBI on these types of crimes and he doesn't believe in them. We have to also keep in mind that the FBI sets the tone for LE training. I wrote about him and his position on our Russian Teen Satanists thread. I do NOT understand the hesitancy to make a stand about these crimes. I fully realize that there was a supposed "hysteria" back in the 80s. OK. But this does not mean that men and women are not confessing to these murders with a direct motivation of satanism. We have a well known and established Church of Satan and we have "dabblers". With the influx of more graphic horror flicks and video games and the gruesome rituals spelled out in black and white on the internet, we've got a problem. These two young men admitted their involvement. The two boys in South San Jose did too. What about Iagulli and Pierson and their house of horror in East St. Louis? Or Jason Budrow who recently showed up at the police station with 666 tattooed on his head and a dead girlfriend in his trunk...who had to die? How many murders is it going to take before LE says, "Let's take a look at what this satanism motivation is all about"?

By ignoring the motive, LE is minimizing the very real pain caused to the victims and their families. It would be akin to calling the rape of a five year old, an "injury to the genitalia". It's so so much more, IMO.

It's sad when the new sources can't get the spelling of the murdered person's name correct. Here's an update on this case:

http://www.northlandsnewscenter.com...or-Radisson-WI-Murder-Suspect--119373464.html

"One of the suspects in the murder of a 93-year old Sawyer County woman appeared in court Wednesday seeking a change of venue. 27-year-old Christopher Roalson began is accused of killing Irena Rozak (sic) at her home in Radisson on May 3rd, 2009.

16-year-old Austin Davis was also accused and pleaded guilty to second degree intentional homicide as part of a plea agreement in January. Rozak's (sic) two daughters were present today and said having to be in court again is heartbreaking, but they vow to come to every hearing to bring justice to their mom...."

Gosh, I hadn't heard of this case before. What a bad rap for Hayward, Wi. Hayward is a wonderful place to vacation with all the beautiful lakes and pines. Last time Hayward made the news big time was when David Westerfield was on trial for murdering D Van Dam. His Family, grandfather, aunts, uncles, cousins had a farm there. Westerfield went there during the summer when he was young. Wonder if there is any relation to these guys.

Yet another delay. So, just how many choices does one get with a defense attorney?

Trial Put On Hold In Brutal Murder Of Elderly Wisconsin Woman
June 6, 2011

"The trial for one of the suspects in a brutal murder of a 93 year old Radisson, Wisconsin woman was postponed again Monday as the defendant once again demanded a new lawyer. 29 year old Christopher Roalson has turned down four public defense attorneys so far....."

and

"....Roalson has been charged with first degree murder for allegedly killing Irena Rozak (sic) at her home on May 3rd, 2009. In January, 17 year old Austin Davis was sentenced to 25 years in prison and 15 years of extended supervision for his part in the murder."

The woman's name is spelled "Roszak":

http://blingee.com/blingee/view/111121446-IRENA-ROSZAK-IN-LOVING-MEMORY-

Whoa--In researching Ms. Roszak's death and looking for obituary, I came across something interesting:

You'll note from the link just above that her maiden name was placed on her gravestone and well as her date of birth, June 11, 1915. Her maiden name was Irena Zawadzka. I wonder if this woman with the same name and birth date is her. If so, why hasn't more information come out concerning her honors?

And from Filly's suggestion to check the Dreamin Deamon:

From a comment of Roalson's on Amazon:

"....Sigh. I am SO TIRED of uneducated people talking about "satanic overtures".
They have NO CLUE how real satanists think!"

and from his MS page:

"....my name is chris roalson. the whole purpose of this page is to invite others on a whirlwind of an experiance to challenge themselves and the religious political social structures that seek to enslave our souls through herd conformity of their system of rights and wrongs rules and laws. behold, for i send you out as WOLVES amongst the SHEEP!"

I guess we truly don't understand, do we?

So, do we have posters who doubt that this is a murder committed in the name of Satan? I'm very curious as so many frequently doubt or chalk it up to crazy teens or mental illness. Real or not?

And is Ms. Roszak the Irina Zawadzka, who bravely saved a child from certain death?

No, Missizzy, you are not the only one!

Once again...a delay!! When will Ms. Roszak's family finally get some justice and closure?? Roalson can't seem to keep a public defender. I guess no attorney really wants his/her name linked to a satanic "thrill killer". I don't blame them.

An addition to Post #12 above:

http://www.zair15wapo.blogspot.com/

I'm so curious as to whether this Irena Zawadzka is the same woman as Irena Zawadzka Roszak. Same name AND the name placed on Ms. Roszak's gravestone. Same birthdate (day and year). Same profession--teacher.

I also found a comment concerning Irena Zawadska from early 2009. Can anyone read Polish?

http://www.linkpolonia.com/forums/post/11797/IrenaZawadzka.aspx

"Ztaką kobietą się przyjażnić to jest coś."

It seems that Ms. Zawadzka was a hero beyond measure. I hope the comment above is a kind one.
