The Los Angeles Department of Coroner has confirmed that the human remains of one person were discovered in the Tapia Park area of Malibu Creek State Park late on Sunday.

The body is in a significant state of decomposition and investigators have been unable to determine a gender, according to Craig Harvey of coroner’s office.

A damaged but still partially legible California Driver License recovered with skeletonized human remains found by a hiker in Tapia Canyon in October enabled the coroner’s office to identify Undetermined Doe No. 9, as Khanh Quang Le, an El Monte man who went missing in July 2010. The cause of death could not determined.

I cannot tell if Tapia Canyon is the same (area) as Tapia Park.
