So it begins: From KATC FB page:

BSL has asked that his convictions be challenged, and the judge has denied him. But they think he is going to try again.

He's going to keep overturning the convictions as long as he can, or trying to.

Maybe he will try giving the location of others if he has others, in turn.

What does it mean to challenge his convictions...his convictions were the result of a confession. His actions, nerve and evil astound me.

Lavergne says parish officials and social workers told him he would remain in solitary confinement until he went to trial, which would likely be a couple of years. For the first time, Lavergne confirms that a woman (not his fiancee) was pregnant with his child when he writes about the pressure the case brought on his family. He says his fiancee had abandoned him, his family was being harassed and threatened, and his bank assets — including a college fund for his daughter — were illegally seized. Those concerns, along with the “impending birth of his son” caused him to have a mental breakdown that he claims impaired his ability to make rational choices.
    ----
“We anticipated something like this would occur. That’s why we were so thorough in the pre-stages of the plea agreement,” Landry says. “Anytime somebody receives two life sentences, they have a lot of time on their hands.”

Sure, let them overturn his case, let him out! He'll finally get that death sentence he plead against in the first place. By a jury or Mickey's new army! Dumb serial killer!

This sickens me. This just puts more grief on mickeys family. He was so stressed out he had to make a confession that wasn't true. Oh really? That just made you a psychic that led you to a body location in a cemetery? What about that truck you burned that was evidence? Those defensive wounds you had to have surgery for? Sorry bud, you're an idiot. You're locked and sealed in that prison forever. You can't blame a false confession on stress when there was such overwhelming evidence plus you have the location of the body so you wouldn't fry!! DumbA!!!!

What a crock! Does he really think anybody cares about his problems or believes his appeal? He needs to be in general population. Now that MS's mom knows how to use a gun, he better be happy he is locked up!

Not that I would expect anything less from his peice of scum, I am still a bit surprised by this happening already. I hope he is being treated terrible for what he did to two beautiful young women. I thought maybe he would confess to other crimes, but I doubt that will happen. I feel so sad for the friends and family of Mickey and Lisa, as if what they endured wasn't hard enough (understatement), now this.... And I have a feeling BSL will pull out whatever he can to get out of there. But I doubt he will ever walk free.

I'm not surprised. I pretty much expected he'd do this after we heard that he tried to appeal his prior conviction for rape while he was in jail for the crime (and I think he had taken a plea in that case as well) & how he was trying to get his sex offender status removed.

    It will never work.

And again, he should realize he's safer in Angola than walking free in Acadiana.

I wish we could sit here and say that since he lead LE to her body and such, he won't be able to challenge the convictions.

However, he has played the justice system over and over again since 1999, and maybe even before. His prison sentence was not a loss to him learning how to be even more "cunning" and learning how to play the justice system.

I don't possibly see how he can retract his guilty plea in relation to Mickey.

However, from what we read, the main thing that got him locked up for Lisa Pate was prison testimony. I'm not sure how that would hold up if he had retried it.

By his letters, he seemed very smart at times, and then very uneducated others.
But if you read as to why he's trying to retract his confessions, you can tell he is not stupid.

His is just insane, plain and simple.

I have a feeling that if he tries this and succeeds, LE might bring Mickey and Lisa's cases to trial, and then bring up any dirt they have on him for any other murders which I'm sure they are still looking into although we don't hear about it.

Short but updated version of what we are discussing.

"Lavergne's petition alleges--among others--an improper venue for the Lisa Pate case, a tainted jury pool due to media coverage of the Mickey Shunick case, and inadequate counsel from his court-appointed attorneys."

This is the full BSL appeal

I was coming post the link, thank you!

Reading his appeal for post conviction relief in his own handwriting makes me skin crawl.
