Two Florida cleaners mistook a man's body for a halloween mannequin, hauled it into a truck and took it to a landfill. The owner, who also saw the mummified body, thought the tenants he'd evicted had left the 'mannequin' hanging in the home as a hoax on him, as the house was in quite a state and filled with rats.
Workers at the trash site were suspicious though and called police, who recognized it was human remains. While they were there, the cleaners arrived with more trash and were shocked to find themselves being questioned about disposing of a body.
The body was later identified as belonging to 33-year-old Jeremy Witfoth, one of the former tenants of the home. Hernando Cnty Sheriff officials say there are no suspicious circumstances as a suicide message was found, and the mummification of the body made it hard to recognize as such, to inexperienced eyes.
Rest in peace Mr Witfoth.
