What do women use to reduce swelling from crying or lack of sleep????

(sliced cucumber or if you don't have cucumber...)

Moist Teabags.....

Kleenex.... for tears and a runny nose from crying...........!!!!!!!!!!!!


That would totally explain why there was no hot cup for anyone who had had a cup of hot tea or an empty glass for cold tea with the remains of cold tea inside it..............

It would explain why the kleenex and the tea bag were both on the kitchen table!

But it was Burkes prints on the teabag glass, hmm
Interesting thing was that it was a crystal glass that was not good for tea. That has disturbed me for some time. Maybe the actual tea glass was removed but not the glass for holding the teabag while it was cooling down.
But ofcourse it was never hot, that explains the crystal glass. Maybe Burke had drank from that before and PR reused it for her teabag.
 
Wow, I never thought of that...teabags for swollen eyes. Good thinking!! :clap:

Maybe the teabag was simply placed after its use, into 'Burke's empty, used glass.'
 
Remember that JB was also suffering from sinus problems and a runny nose. Perhaps she used the kleenex while eating her pineapple. I wonder if the kleenex found was used or fresh?

Exactly, I edited my post above. Very good thinking, that crystal glass has bothered me alot and now you come up with a very credible answer, thank you :)

Brilliant!

Another question though. Do you think Patsy slept in her make-up? Or do you think she took it off, soaked her eyes and then applied fresh make-up? If so, when?

My opinion~
If the R's did it....
I seriously doubt that PR went to sleep at all on the night of the 25th.

They return from the party. The crime happens. There is a cover-up. By the time that is complete, it is now early morning hours. PR sits at table falling apart crying. Wets a teabag. Presses it on her eyes. Puts teabag in the used glass already sitting on the table and uses a kleenex to wipe the excess moisture from the teabag from her eyes. Then she goes upstairs and refreshes her make-up while JR is in shower.
 
Angelwings, I was just trying to think of every scenario of Patsy being in full make-up. When did she find the time? Why would she want to be in make-up? It would be the last thing on my mind.

I totally agree! (but then I was never a beauty queen, rather, I was 'the what you see is what you get' type of human inside and out... Sadly, we know PR was not. Image mattered! Possibly more than we will ever REALLY know.)

Now, regarding Patsy's applying make up on the morning of the 26th-

(NE book pg 138)

TH: So you wake up and you're not sure of the time. Did you happen to look at the clock?

PR: Not - I mean, not to the minute, no. Sometime between 5:30 and six.

So let's say Patsy got up at 5:31 a.m.

(NE book pg 142)

PR: Blush, lipstick. I probably didn't really do a terrific job. I mean just putting, get a little bit on and go, you know.

TH: Okay. And how long do you think all that in the bathroom took?

PR: Oh, 20, 30 minutes.


5:31 a.m. + 20 minutes = 5:51 a.m. This only leaves 1 minute for her to do what she said she did in the laundry area (on pg 145 she said it took her 5-10 minutes), bound down the spiral staircase, see the three pages of the note on the tread, read the first few lines, run back upstairs, yell for John, check on Burke, etc. before placing the 911 call at 5:52 a.m.

I wish I knew what brand of makeup Patsy used. For all of her "crying", it stayed on perfectly. No mascara running down her cheeks! I don't believe for a minute that she only was wearing a bit of blush and lipstick on Christmas morning - the detectives wouldn't have taken immediate notice of it if she was (didn't they say she was in "full makeup").


Maybe the tea bag/pineapple was something simple, like - Jonbenet gets in Burke's bed (because hers is wet?) and they both go downstairs. Burke helps Jonbenet get some pineapple and makes himself some tea.

Patsy hears them and comes downstairs to escort them both up to bed. That's when she finds that Jonbenet has wet herself, and the combo of that and finding her up in the middle of the night sets Patsy off into throwing her across the room in the bathroom.

Could be, Wenchie, but I notice you are from New Jersey. Please remember I'm southern. 99.9% of southerners do not make cold tea by the glass and leave the tea bag in it as they drink it. Patsy was southern and John Ramsey said in his 1997 interview that he had lived in Atlanta for 21 years. (That is a 'southern convert', in our estimation.) Southerners make sweet tea by the pitcher full and keep the pitcher in the fridge. It is as if you were drinking syrup it is so sweet. If we run out we make another pitcher full. Never in my life have I seen a southerner make an individual glass of tea using a tea bag, much less leave the tea bag in the glass.

The ONLY time I have ever seen a southerner put a tea bag in a glass was after making a hot cup of tea and the glass was used as a storage vessel to reuse the bag for a 2nd cup of tea if one was wanted.

If JBR was feeling poorly and wanted a hot cup of tea w/ sugar and milk, I can see that happening. That would explain the glass, the tea bag and the kleenex. (and if she was also hungry, the pineapple) If this happened where is the cup in which the hot tea was served? If ANYONE cleaned it up, why wouldn't they also clean up the bowl of pineapple, and the glass with the tea bag?

To anyone NOT Southern, I know this sounds silly, but you have to understand how fanatical Southerners are about their "Sweet Tea".
 
If the old teabag trick was used to cover up someone's puffy eyes, wouldn't there need to have been 2 teabags?

Did you read the article from Mother Nature.com above?

It says "a teabag", as in singular. Also, PR may have only had one tea bag left in the entire house at the time... Who knows?

Personally, I would use two, but then I wouldn't be in the position of being soon suspected of killing my daughter and need to think that one tea bag would not look as suspicious as two sitting on the kitchen table if I had been up all night playing 'cover-up'. Who knows why PR did and said anything she did and said??? Thank goodness it is very difficult for me to attempt to 'think as she might have'.

The tea bag thing simply bothered me so much so that I could not let it go. This explains the tea bag, and the kleenex. IMO.

I think that 99.9% of people everywhere make their ice tea by the pitcher.

What I was thinking of was Burke making himself a glass of hot tea. I've seen kids do things like that before - make tea in a glass instead of a mug, just because the glasses were easier to reach, or because they want a large sized one rather, etc.

I see. Well, the tea bag string in the picture is hanging out over the top of the glass as most adults would place it if they were thinking of reusing it. If he made it in that glass, then he probably had to hold the tea bag string with his finger to keep it from falling inside the glass as he drank the 'glass' of hot tea. That sure does seem like an awful lot of trouble for a 9.9 year old to go to much less to even think of, IMO. (plus not burning himself on a hot glass as he held the glass or spilling the tea while holding the string, too. Of course he could have finished the hot tea and reached inside the glass and pulled up the string after he finished. But the string hanging out over the top of the glass just looks to me to be something a female adult would do. (not most American males and not most boys)

It's not impossible that Burke could have done it, but having raised two sons, I'd think it's highly improbable.

What do you think? I do now understand where you were going with it, though. Thanks for your reply. The picture/evidence of all this and PR not remembering any of it is driving me batty attempting to unravel..........:bang:
