It was posted on the door of Evans Hall this morning. Several other copies were reportedly found on campus.

Here is the text of the flyer:

"On April 21, 2008, all operations at OU Norman will cease. As of this date, the free university known as Happy Nihilist University will begin. Anyone who wants to learn at HNU, will. And all at no charge. Knowledge is power? It will be. OUPD cannot stop us. Mr. Boren is impotent. He will fail. The media can say whatever they like. They too will fail.

"Amor fati!"

According to Wikipedia:
Amor fati is a Latin phrase that loosely translates to "love of fate" or "love of one's fate". It is used to describe an attitude in which one sees everything that happens in one's life, including suffering and loss, as good.

Baylor University students routinely publish a newspaper called The Rope, which is a parody of the Lariat, the official student newspaper.

My all time favorite when I was a student was the one with the heading, 'RAPTURE!!! then in smaller letters...Still Here?"

The administration was constantly trying to squash The Rope which of course, emboldened them only more.

There are a lot of Okie students at Baylor (in Waco, which is closer to North Texas and the border with OK) and my guess is, this is just a similar attempt to get back at administration. Such things usually come from very smart, slightly geeky students who don't quite fit in with their more conservative minded fellow students.

They caught him!! Quite frankly, I don't know about this guy. He doesn't sound stable and has a past history involving the university. Very frightening...but at least he is behind bars and is no longer a threat...either real or not.

Man arrested for sign posting at OU

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - A bond hearing is scheduled today for a Norman man charged with a felony of advocating unlawfulness on school grounds.

Robert Anderson is accused of posting ominous signs at the University of Oklahoma campus.

~snip~

Anderson was also arrested in 1994 after bursting into the office of then-OU President Richard Van Horn and had to be restrained. He later pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of malicious injury to property and failing to leave and institute of higher learning.

1994? This guy definitely has some mental issues! Although I'm sure there were some students that were looking forward to being nihalistic.
