Soul singer and arranger Isaac Hayes, who won Grammy awards and an Oscar for the theme from the 1971 action film "Shaft," has died, sheriff's officials in Memphis, Tennessee, reported Sunday. (more at link)

I have a CD of numerous different songs on it. And Shaft is one of them. My 13 year old son and his friends always make me blast it in the car. It's funny, they really get into singing it. It'll be sad to tell them he passed away. They also all have Johnny Cash CD's...go figure.

One of my all times favorites. What a talented man with that deep, soulful voice.

Seems like we are getting shocking news of unexpected deaths a lot lately.

I used to die laughing whenever I heard the "Chocolate salty balls" song. Now before some moderator bans me, the song is about candied chocolate balls. You just put em in your mouth and suck em!
