TES Search and Parents Visit to Jail

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/orange/orl-casey-anthony-jail-090308,0,7110266.story link does not show story any longer. This appears to be a "top story" of the day link. 10/7/08

10:12 a.m. EquuSearch officials this morning said they are not discontinuing their search for Caylee Marie, despite a lack of volunteers.

10 a.m. Casey Anthony's parents, Cindy and George Anthony, are supposed to visit her at the Orange County Jail at 9 a.m. Thursday.

This article clears up how Tim Miller of Texas Equusearch really feels:

Miller said the toddler's grandmother, Cindy Anthony, was upset when he went on national television and said they were looking for Caylee's body.

Cindy called Miller and told him that her granddaughter was alive and that her daughter, Casey Anthony, gave her to a family. This upset Miller because he said if a family does indeed have the missing girl, why doesn't the Anthony family go to that family? "Why bring us in? Why call us? There are many families that really need our help," Miller said.

Members of the Orange County Sheriff's Office have requested the search team stay.

"The Sheriff of Orange County has given us a check for $5,000, 25 airboats and the entire mounted patrol to continue the search for Caylee,' Miller said.

"The sheriff says he wants us to stay until Caylee is found, and we will search the entire county, state and country until we find this little girl so we can give her the dignity and respect she deserves," he continued.

Sheriff Offers Airboats, Patrols, $5K To Keep Search For Caylee Going

We've been very discouraged with this search, and we were almost got to the point of wanting to pull out. But we got a call from the sheriff of Orange County. He said, 'Don't be discouraged. Don't give up. I'm bringing you airboats, mounted patrol, and $5,000 to help out. Don't go anywhere,'" said Tim Miller, the founder of Equusearch.

Searchers Continue Hunt for Missing Toddler Caylee, Determined to 'Find This Baby' Despite Death Theory

Searchers didn't give up on finding missing tot Caylee Anthony Wednesday in spite of scant numbers and the dismal news that she is now feared dead.

As the hunt for the Florida toddler stretched into a fifth day, EquuSearch volunteers said they're more determined than ever to find her, even though police said earlier this week they don't believe Caylee is alive.

.................snip......................

Detectives theorize that Casey Anthony had been driving around with her dead daughter in the car sometime before she reported her missing July 16.

Scientific evidence from the FBI lab "leads us to believe Caylee is deceased," said Orange County Sheriff's Cmdr. Matt Irwin, and suggests "there was a body in the trunk of Casey's car and that body was Caylee's," according to Sgt. John Allen.

The FBI forensics tests confirm that there had been a decomposing human corpse in Anthony's Pontiac Sunfire, where DNA from strands of hair and a stain were matched to Caylee, police said.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Orange County sheriff and the founder of a group scouring Central Florida for missing Caylee Anthony sent harsh messages to the child's grandmother Wednesday as a search for the child continued.

Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary initially made a plea for more volunteers in the search for Caylee.

"We will take any help we can get," Beary said. "The initial evidence, even though it is not totally conclusive has come back with some decomposition of a body. I hope that is not the case because I'm a dad."

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- New criminal charges were filed against Casey Anthony on Wednesday and Eyewitness News has learned she could be getting a powerful local attorney.

The new charges are unrelated to her daughter Caylee's disappearance. They stem from Casey's arrest Friday night, when she was accused of stealing money from her friend's checking account. The friend, Amy Huizenga, says Anthony stole several checks and cleaned out her bank account while Huizenga was vacationing in Puerto Rico.

Three sources close to the investigation into missing toddler Caylee Anthony told WESH 2 that preliminary lab results show there was chloroform in mother Casey Anthony's car.

Chloroform is a chemical that was used years ago to sedate patients before surgery. A chemist told WESH 2 it is a fairly-hazardous material not readily available to consumers.

Sources told WESH 2 the level of chloroform in her car was "suspiciously high." They also told WESH 2 that her computer confiscated within hours of her July arrest, show visits to Web sites with information on chloroform.

Also late Wednesday afternoon, a cadaver dog alerted on an area in the search for Caylee Anthony just south of the Orlando International Airport. It's near the same place where search teams have been scouring the woods trying to find Caylee's body.

Orange County investigators were at the scene Wednesday evening to investigate the discovery made by the Body Hunters, an organization out of Ohio. That group said their own cadaver dogs hit on something. Investigators told Eyewitness News they did not believe the find was likely to have anything to do with the Caylee Anthony case but homicide detectives had been called out just in case.

ATTORNEY SAYS HE WILL REPRESENT CASEY'S PARENTS

http://www.wftv.com/news/17382107/detail.html

There was a big development Thursday concerning George and Cindy Anthony. High-profile attorney Mark Nejame said he will represent them, but not Casey. Mark Nejame told Eyewitness News he has decided he will take on Cindy and George Anthony's case.

However, he said he has not spoken to the Anthonys so far Thursday, so it is not a done deal. The Anthonys met with the high-profile attorney at his office Wednesday afternoon. Nejame said a friend recommended they meet with him for guidance. He said they did not talk about Casey Anthony.

Nejame said he would not be taking over Casey's case, but instead would be representing George and Cindy Anthony. He said, if he steps in, he would help deal with the negative publicity.

Eyewitness News also talked to Casey's attorney, Jose Baez, about the situation and he said he thinks George and Cindy Anthony need an attorney because right now "they are being vilified on TV."

Eyewitness News asked Nejame if it would be a pro bono case and he would only say he did not want to talk about finances; however there would be some people contributing to the fund.

CINDY ANTHONY MAKES STRONG STATEMENT VIA EMAIL

http://www.wftv.com/news/17382107/detail.html

Late Thursday morning, Eyewitness News received a statement from Casey Anthony's mother. In an email, she blasts the bounty hunter who helped get Casey released on bond and the organizer of the search organization.

"Leonard Padilla and Tim Miller came to me under false pretenses. Both claiming their sole purpose to find Caylee alive. Tim Miller misrepresented his intentions, and is falsely accusing me of not cooperating with him, when it is evident his motives were to obtain publicity for his organization at the expense of exploiting my granddaughters disappearance. Tim Miller tried to discredit Kid Finders Network by falsely stating that they tried to pull out of the search for Caylee. Mr. Miller also claims that he spent twelve hours in my home with my family including Casey, when in fact he spent only a few hours total with me and minutes with Casey. This is an example of Tim Miller following in Leonard Padillas footsteps. Although I feel his organization has a purpose, his misrepresentation has tainted the efforts of so many people with good intentions. I would have expected Tim Miller to speak with me one on one, rather than me hearing him on Nancy Grace."
