I am reading SFGate and they are reporting that she was married and got divorced last year. They had not been together since 2000, though. The ex is not the sperm donor of all the babies.

ETA: also the article touches on her education... she is working on her masters in counseling.
Her masters in counseling? Does that qualify as 'irony'? :bang:
I will let you know what I hear when I hear it. My understanding is the scandal is regarding the hospital. Media would not report the story until thye had more confirmation.
I had to chuckle to day because I realized she has collected over 200K in benefits for a back injury. She just had octuplets. Probably not the best thing to do for a bad back.
She is supposed to leave the hospital today and the media is camped out in front of Kaiser hoping for a glimpse.
Interesting... I wonder if she's going to sue the hospital over HIPAA violations? :bang:
LOL Jbean octo-mom sounds like a superhero... sorry OT
I'm interested in her workman's comp claim. Why? Because I'm nosey.

We don't know what the story is....a pelvic infection or history of GI surgery might open an avenue to medical discovery that you were infertile without your having tried to get pregnant. If she was obsessed, she could have gotten a work up. We also don't know how many IUI cycles she might have tried before the first pregnancy (14 children ago).
I think she would have had a speedier process as someone using donor sperm than a married couple going through the paces. The worst part of my journey were doctors who assumed parts were working that later after many failed attempts were discovered to be nonfunctioning. And yes it did take me about 4 years to get recommended for IVF....but if I had been a single woman with no partner using healthy donated sperm, it eliminates male side of the equation being investigated for infertility and the problem of quality and quantity going up and down.
Just got in and started reading that she's already released.....

Hey JB, I referred to her as an octupus the other day - Freudian slip.
