Reportedly, they had been in Berkeley before they wound up in Cecilville. Seems like they would have looked a bit out of place in a college town, plus, he has a Tennessee accent. The car must have been on a highway near there, but probably with the stolen plates. JMO

The Bay Area is very multi-cultural. It's not uncommon to hear accents from all over the world there. They wouldn't have stood out. They could have probably stayed there for a long time and never been spotted. But it was probably too expensive for them.

Them going to Cecilville was another matter. TC violated one of the basic rules of successfully disappearing, when he went there. You can't disappear in a small town, where everybody knows everybody.

After reading about his being 'glad it was over', I wonder if his fantasy of being with this young girl had started to crumble, as he realized she needed a father, not a boyfriend. So happy to see her safe.

I heard one of the Siskiyou sheriff guys say that he was "low on cash" $4500 isn't that much money, but it should have lasted longer...maybe they splurged at something. Guess we'll find out, eventually. JMO

Lots of new info I haven't seen, unless it's been posted since the news conference yesterday from the Complaint, here is a link to the Complaint:

https://www.scribd.com/document/345795761/Tad-Eric-Cummins-Criminal-Complaint

Cummins is in custody in Siskiyou County, Ca. awaiting an arraignment April 21. Thomas is set to be flown back to Columbia, Tenn. via a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation aircraft.

The complaint says Cummins became upset when the school district took his school-issued laptop saying he had personal information on it about purchases he made. He was reluctant to give up the device.

Cummins left a note for his wife asking her not to call the police and explaining that he traveled to Virginia Beach or the D.C. area to clear his head. Cummins also denied wrongdoing in his note to his wife and asked her to forgive him. The complaint says at the time she found the note, Jill Cummins did not call police.

Cummins's wife said he had a prescription for Cialis, a drug commonly used to treat erectile dysfunction. The complaint says Cummins refilled his prescription with six pills at a pharmacy in Columbia, Tennessee three days before leaving town.

A Super 8 Motel employee told investigators that Cummins had rented a room with a single queen bed at their Oklahoma City location from March 15-16. Witnesses at the motel said he asked for directions to a nearby Walmart.

Surveillance video previously released shows the pair at an Oklahoma City Walmart on March 15. The complaint says they stopped at another Walmart in Oklahoma and purchased items including women's razors, chocolate, cheese cubes, and KY jelly, a commonly-used lubricant for sexual intercourse.

In the complaint, investigators say Cummins and the 15-year-old victim are involved in a sexual relationship and traveled in interstate commerce to continue their relationship and engage in unlawful sexual activity.

Looking at the map of where Guymon, OK is, it is way off course coming from OKC to get to California. Seems like maybe they took some back roads. IMO

Looking forward to seeing a map of this.

A tip led investigators to Cummins’ vehicle that was found 68 miles southwest of Yreka Wednesday night.

Reports to law enforcement indicated a girl was staying in a cabin with a man off Eddy Gulch Road in Cecilville.

A whole lot of healing will need to happen for this young woman. I suspect the healing will need to go back to before this awful ordeal began. I am so hoping that she gets the kind of support she needs from excellent professionals. I also hope her family also gets treatment in order to deal with the roller coaster that they and she have been on.

I agree. And maybe they should use professionals outside of their small town.

Man who tipped off authorities about missing Tenn. student Elizabeth Thomas describes 'clues'
Apr 21, 2017, 7:46 AM ET

The man who tipped off authorities and led them to a former Tennessee teacher accused of kidnapping his 15-year-old student said there were "clues" that made him suspicious of the pair.

Griffin Barry came across Elizabeth Thomas and her alleged abductor, Tad Cummins, at a gas station in far northern California when they were needing money for gas, food and a place to stay.

Both Cummins and the teenager looked healthy, but the girl was visibly emotional as the ordeal came to an end.

Investigators also recovered two loaded handguns and a collection of stones marked with the names of locations where the two had presumably stopped during their travels.

Cummins told arresting officers that he felt relief.

Cummins' extradition would likely take weeks to arrange.

A US Attorney said his office will add a federal charge against Cummins, for transportation of a minor across state lines for sexual intercourse. That offense carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.

From your link:

The girl walked out behind him and was later turned over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for additional questioning and a forensic exam, authorities said.

So, that answers that question.

I bet he's going to throw ET under the bus blame her, its all her fault in order to get sympathy from his wife, family and friends.

What a monster. I'm sure he's been practicing, playing this scenario out in this head the whole time.

Yep, and he already has supporters in this. I had someone argue with me today saying that he knows plenty of teenage girls who can manipulate older men. I'm guessing if the genders were reversed, he'd be saying the teacher manipulated the boy since he probably believes all women are evil or something. Oh wait, who am I kidding, he'd probably be saying it was fine because all teenage boys want to be with older women, right?

Seeing that the Red Roof person dod research on the 29th, I went back to the timelines to see what happened on the 29th.

FYI..in Spanish...TBI new presser

" Wednesday, March 29, 2017: The TBI held a news conference on search efforts for Thomas and Cummins two weeks after it issued the Amber Alert. The TBI also translated the Amber Alert into Spanish to try to reach more people."

TC could have ended it anytime. He chose not to. Feeling relief if was over. Doubting that.

They reportedly made it to the ranch, but members of the commune knew something was amiss.
“I feel a little funny because there were all kinds of indications that there was something a little funny going on never occurred to me that she was 15 year old, they said she was 22, I thought…yeah,” said Peter LaughingWolf.
LaughingWolf said when the commune told Cummins it wouldn’t be a good fit for the commune, he reportedly stormed off with his young victim.
“What really should have been a clue that something was wrong was that he got so angry when that was shared with them,” added LaughingWolf.

Curious about the kidnapping, is that going to be a charge because of her age? From what i have read it appears she went willingly. Jmo
