My theory...

The driver of the white truck was impaired (male). The driver had a passenger (female). The driver also had a wife at home (and should not have been with the female). Mickey was hit by accident and the driver and passenger tried to hide what happened rather than face the music.

My theory only. Big MOO.

from KATC's fb.

Lafayette police have announced they have identified the owners and drivers of two of the vehicles of interest--the white pick-up truck with a bed cover seen on Amb. Caffery near Mickey's neighborhood and the older-model car. Investigators have ruled out those individuals as suspects in the case. Police are still searching for the white Chevy Z-71 pick-up seen on surveillance near the corner of St. Landry and University.

I'm assuming they mean the one that was near the cemetary on University...because that pic with the bed cover was nowhere on Ambassador Caffery that I can recall. I'm hoping they update their webpage with more information or they have a press conference later to (hopefully) reveal new findings from talking to the car.

To verify: The white Z71 is the truck captured on the cam across from the Circle K going towards University?

Or the female is married. Driver scared of husband. Wife scared of husband. Cover up.

Wow, now there's some news! I'm honestly shocked. I thought for sure the white truck was a big clue in this case. Not the first time I've been wrong and certainly won't be the last.

ETA: I guess there's still hope for the second white truck.

Speculation...the reason they were possibly interested in the white truck is because perhaps it was seen on camera on University by the graveyard and they spotted it again at the traffic camera on Congress/Ambassador Caffery? That would explain the mixup about -where- it was seen, and LE did imply they were withholding information. Since the white truck that was cleared wasn't on St. Landry, it was always the one pic that didn't fit in with the rest, maybe this was why.

Well, did they see anything? Did they check their car, house, etc. for any signs/evidence? Question their wifes, neighbors, etc.? They obviously saw Mickey on her bike or something going on, or perhaps even the abduction taking place.

I just wonder how Investigators rule them out so quickly....

I find this news to be bittersweet, it seems so far "all roads lead to nowhere" meaning I really had hoped that the truck or car would lead them to M....

I'd caution us against revealing in a post information about where one's going to sleuth. Lots of members and guests reading. If you want to let someone know your mission and prospective whereabouts, a pm would be a better idea. Safety first, all.

I'm inclined to believe that LE probably knows a lot more than they're letting on--therefore they only needed a certain bit of information and it was easily gotten, or perhaps they identified these drivers last night and have already verified alibis? It's possible that they just wanted to talk to these drivers to validate some sort of information they have pieced together and they weren't suspects at all instead of just witnesses?
