Oh my! This sounds scary. I wonder how many? And what is happening in Parkland that criminals think they should be ambushing Law Enforcement?

Wow!

My god!! I hope they solve this crime quickly, with no further loss of life! Were these civilian officers or were they affiliated with the base?

More information about the ambush

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department has reported that four police officers have been shot dead in an ambush at the Forza Coffee coffee shop at 11401 on South Steele Street in Lakewood Sunday morning.

Pierce County Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said investigators are immediately offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the suspect, and that number is expected to grow.

He could not say what agency the officers were from.

The officers were sitting in the coffee shop with their computers out when the shooter came in. The officers were targeted, and it was not a robbery, investigators believe.

"It was just a flat out ambush," Troyer said.

It appears these officers had met at the coffee shop and were preparing to begin their shift.

How awful is this?

Per FOX news, there are two suspects being sought.

There were other customers in the coffee shop at the time and the officers were targeted.

Parkland is a suburb of Tacoma and has about 25,000 people. I can't even begin to imagine the amount of pain caused by this crime. Four officers murdered in a town that size is immense. So much sadness. That town's gonna need a lot of prayer.

4 police officers killed in Wash. state

Shootings happened at coffee shop south of Tacoma

"This was a targeted, selected ambush," Troyer said, adding that customers and baristas were in the shop at the time but no one else was injured.

Short video mid way down the page. Article with it reads:

Officials at the scene said two gunmen burst into the Forza Coffee Co. outlet at 11401 Steele St. South, shot the four uniformed officers as they were working on their laptop computers, then fled the scene.

I am not definite on this, but used to live there and I would think the officers in that area, Parkland, Spanaway, would have been Pierce Co. LE...again, not sure, but I remember Pierce Co would cover that area.

When I was reading at the above link, a poster mentioned another recent incident in Washington. There was an officer shot and killed while he sat in his patrol car in October. I don't believe they could be linked as the alleged perp was arrested. I haven't looked into that case any further.

According to some of the posters on the above link, there is now a helicopter circling. Some seem to think they know what they're looking for.

well, yeah, they're looking for two perps.

One poster said there was report of shots fired close to the scene but they didn't say when and wouldn't give the address for privacy reasons.

FOX news has a reporter enroute to the scene.

PS>......they had a description of one of the alleged perps, I'll post it when I can find it....fran

Troyer described the scene inside the coffee shop as "carnage and a scene out of a horror movie."

Three male officers and one female officer all died at the scene.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for any information leading to the arrest of the suspects, Troyer said. An emergency tip line has been set up, at 866-977-2362, for callers to report any helpful information.

No description of the suspects is yet available.

The victims were Lakewood Police Officers...

PARKLAND, Wash. - Four Lakewood Police officers were shot and killed Sunday morning in what authorities called a targeted ambush at a coffee shop.

Pierce County Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer says the officers - four male and one female - were in full uniform and wearing bulletproof vests, sitting in a coffee shop near 116th Street and Steele Street on the east side of the Air Force base at about 8:30 a.m.

"We hopefully will have answers, but there is nothing more we can tell you," Troyer said. "That's as cold-hearted as it is."

Video from SkyKING showed officers tagging a white pick-up truck in a parking lot 13322 Pacific Ave S. Tacoma and a tow truck pulling up.

Troyer said the suspect is a black male, 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-10, 20s to 30s, scruffy appearance, wearing a black coat and blue jeans.

He said they are looking to see if there is any surveillance cameras that may have caught the suspect on video.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information. Tips can be called in to (253) 591-5959 or 866-977-2362.

Wow! They had on bullet-proof vests and were still killed. The perp must be a good shot and knew they would have on vests.

The news report I watched the reporter said that in many areas or states, officers are not allowed to gather together in public like this because of incidents from the past.

I know where I lived up to last year, in south OC, calif, officers were often together for meals and such, at the same little pizza shop. They'd gather for dinner time or whatever.

The reporter also said they were stepping up security a bit at the military installations, with regard to the coming and going from the facilities. Apparently this was fairly close to the entrance to a facility.

The Seattle Times mentions the murder of Officer Brenton in their story on this case...

The man was wearing a black coat and blue jeans, Troyer said.

A second suspect might have been with the man, Troyer said.

Detectives were preparing search warrants for multiple locations, he said.

The shootings come about a month after the killing of Seattle Police Officer Timothy Brenton, who was gunned down while sitting his patrol car Oct. 31.
