Just a few observations:
It looks like they didn't have lunch together since they're coming from different directions - could be wrong!!
Baez seems more stressed than C&B - IMO.:waitasec:

Is it customary to take a depo in the courthouse? I am just curious-I mean you can't really expect a judge to sit in on a deposition, right?? That has to be biased, especially given Cindy's bizarre behavior in the Morgan one.

Yes, in FL it is.

FCR 3.220 H

(3) Location of Deposition. Depositions of witnesses residing in the county in which the trial is to take place shall be taken in the building in which the trial shall be held, such other location as is agreed on by the parties, or a location designated by the court.

And yes, it could be possible but unlikely the SA requested that Judge S sit during the deposition. Cindy's previous behavior during the civil deposition might make the SA think a depo would be a waste of time with this witness.

Do you suppose this has anything to do with the late compliance with the documents she was to produce earlier? Maybe they need clarification of why she wasn't able to comply sooner, or if there was anything "amiss" with the production of those documents....?

More than likely they requested the production of documents when they served the depo notice. This is why the SA wanted those documents. They needed the documents in order to prep for this depo.

And .... why did Cindy need a subpoena to show up for a depo anyway?
Don't people usually just voluntarily attend a depo when it is scheduled for them?

Wonder if the State also had to subpoena George and Lee to get them into a depo?

A subpoena would allow the SA to ask for relevant documents in addition to having a person sit for a deposition. A deposition notice only requires attendance at a deposition. At least this is the way it's done in Federal Court.

I have to wonder why Baez was there. It was closed and he is NOT nor has he EVER BEEN Cindy's attorney. I have to believe that they took the depo in order to nail her in her lies on the stand during the trial. I think Baez waa fishing for ideas to use in the defense.

Baez is there because he is Casey's attorney. If Baez deposes a witness in the Anthony case then the State could be there too!

Still find it hard to believe this Depo was kept so secret. I wonder if there is anything else scheduled with others involved in the case?

The news that LE accompanied CA to the hearing is interesting.

Any legal eagles on here I was wondering if it is usual for a witness to have to go through a deposition in a murder trial?

I don't remember ever hearing about a depo being used for witnesses before.

Depositions of anticipated witnesses in a trial whether it be a civil or criminal trial are extremely valuable. You know how an atty always says to never ask a witness a question they DON'T already know the answer to?? Well, attys learn what to ask and what not to ask during a trial based off the testimony which is given in a deposition before the trial. Most of the grunt work and big AH HA moments happen way before a case ever goes to actual trial.

If other depos are scheduled we may never know about it in advance. Typically depo notices aren't required to be filed with the court.

I hope that the SA pins Cindy down re: the winnie the poo blanket and Cindy sending people to the dump site. The statements that she made to LE and later denied making. Very important statements that need to be set in stone, on the record.

This is video of everybody leaving the depo yesterday. At about the halfway mark, a reporter asks Jose Baez "why were you here today?" Baez responds "it had nothing to do with the defense, that's all I can say."

HUH??? Why else would he be there if not for Casey's defense? I really don't get this.

IMO, when Baez said "it had nothing to do with the defense", is because he didn't ask for the depo, the state asked for the depo.

OK - That makes sense!! I wondered about that too!

I can't believe CA didn't utter one word when they returned from lunch. Has she spoken to the media since AL came on board? Too bad JB couldn't keep quiet, just had to get in those verbal shots at Morgan.

Yes Cindy, etc., have spoken with the media since the onset of Brad being their attorney. (Early Show, Larry King, etc., etc.)

Well, if I was in their position, I would get all her testimony ASAP so I could shut her the he... up, and give her what she deserves for contempt/perjury/obstruction at the very least! What use is her testimony at trial anyway? She's impeached herself too much as it is. My case against Casey doesn't rely on her testimony. The only reason she hasn't been charged already is for work product reasons, IMO.

Especially if Casey/Baez would like to throw CA under the bus, or I think they might try!

I'm not a prosecutor! But CA's and KC's collusion to attempt to hinder law enforcement, and the courts, steams me to no end.

Wishful thinking I suppose.

And, Cindy was lying about the computer not working being the reason that she couldn't produce the documents. She sent emails during that time.

Maybe Cindy was given the choice of going to her deposition or being held in contempt and escorted by the lady with the badge to the same jail where her daughter is residing these days!! Just a thought! That officer looks like she means business!! :poke:
The female LE does look like she means business.

At first I thought the walkie-talkie was a sidearm!

I completely agree with you that Jose appears stressed. I noticed it in the video you reference above and also an earlier video (either leaving for lunch or arriving this a.m. - don't remember which - lol). - his usual demeanor is gone - very little of his usual smile / smirk. Just my observation / opinion. Yesterday he seemed more confident than today - remember his smirk / comment re Kathi Belich (reporter) being there yesterday. That is gone today.

Alot can go wrong for Jose's case the next few days between Cindy, George and Lee testifying.

Thanks Patty
I hadn't thought about it like that. It does make sense in a backwards sort of way. Hope you're not starting to think like Baez all the time.

Oh wow, I have missed everything for the last couple of days...I just heard on CNN that 1500 pages of docs are being released tomorrow....

You're not alone, been in the woods/lake area and no news whatsoever!
I'm catching up and now a doc dump coming!!!

Sorry for the confusion, I meant since Andrea Lyons starting representing KC, I have not heard CA speak to the media. There was a lot speculation about CA's tearful appearance at court the day JB announced AL as KC's attorney. Maybe AL spoke with the A family and laid down some rules.
