Sylinda Parish set up what her family is calling the Bri Tree for Christmas this year.
With glittery silver ornaments, the tree is dedicated to the memory of Parish's 21-year-old daughter, Brianna Lynne Parish, who was killed Nov. 12.
"She loved shiny things, all things bling, so it's done up like that," Parish said of the special tree.
"She was our Christmas joy. She always made everybody laugh and she really enjoyed Christmas," Parish said. "We're struggling with Christmas."
Still under construction, the Web site, www.briannabond.com, will let other young people know that staying connected with each other can save lives, Parish said.

Briana Parish's family made their presence known in court today by wearing shirts in her memory. "This is mainly to help make people aware that young women know they should not be out alone," said Dee McClantoc, a Parish relative. "We don't want this to happen to anyone else."
Troy Macdonald's defense team acknowledged that Daphne Police have surveillance video of Macdonald leaving the Bayhouse Pub. But his attorney attempted to show that the state has no way to prove Parish was inside Macdonald's car at the time
The judge then ruled the case will proceed. "His case will be presented to the February grand jury. And they will be the acting body to decide the charges he will face as to go on through the process," said the District Attorney.
FOX10 News learned Thursday that Brianna Parish was naked from waist down when she was found. Detectives say they were also able to match semen found in Parish's body to Troy Macdonald.

Surprising Details In Brianna Parish Murder Case
Last Update: 1/29 7:08 pm

Thursday investigators disclosed MacDonald’s alibi. MacDonald says he did seeParish that night, but left her earlier in the evening alive and well. He claims after seeing Parish he went to a man’s house who he claims he had sex with.
Investigators say his timeline doesn’t match up to their cell phone records. Thursday’s hearing also revealed the cause of Parish’s death. The Department of Forensic Sciences ruled she died from strangulation and blunt force trauma to the head. She was discovered half naked. Investigators found her blue jeans, underwear and shoes about 300 feet from her body.
DNA taken from Parish matches that of MacDonald, but not beyond a shadow of doubt.

In the crowded courtroom late last week sat more than 20 supporters and family members of the victim, Brianna Parish. Most wore white T-shirts with a smiling photo of the 21-year-old encircled by the words, "In memory of Brianna Parish."
Friends and family of Troy MacDonald, who is charged with Parish's murder, filled a back row bench in the courtroom.

Mayor's order to investigate Daphne Civic Center drew police objections, records show

In January, barely a dozen days after police here announced an arrest in the murder of 21-year-old Brianna Parish, the mayor ordered a new, less-visible investigation that drew objections from both Chief David Carpenter and Capt. Danny Bell.

Small said last week that Palumbo's claims were "way off base."

"In no way did the Police Department or myself hinder or slow down the Brianna Parish investigation by looking into problems at the Civic Center," Small said.

Life Without Brianna: Murder Victim's Father Speaks
Last Update: 11/03 7:04 pm
<snipped>
It's been a challenging year. Parish and Brianna's mother were living in Texas at the time of Brianna's murder. Since her death, he was laid off and they've moved back to Daphne. There's so much support here, but also so many memories.

"I don't really know what's going to happen come the anniversary date itself," says Parish. "I'm sure it's going to be difficult."

The Parish family is planning to install a bench near the sight where Brianna's body was found as a permanent memorial. The Baldwin County District Attorney says she hopes to bring the case to trial in the spring.
