America, you can be proud

While the shock and disappointment are clouding many thoughts right now I have to say it isn't a day I'm proud to be an American. This verdict IMO shows that dishonesty and underhandedness are allowed by the defense team in our country while a laugh from the state might cause a mistrial. If our justice system was honestly what it claims to me then high profile cases wouldn't result in justice not being served. I never bought into the claim that ICA couldn't get a fair trial. In America if you are rich, attractive, dishonest, any or all of the above you are much less likely to be held accountable. If ANY one of us were on trial with this evidence against us we would on our way to death row. The jury members should be ashamed after finding ICA had no fault in her child's death.

bravo sappy, well said

I am sitting in the UK and listening to the Sheriff, I'm awaiting the comments of JA and LDB and I cannot but admire the immense dignity I am seeing in the face of such a devastating verdict.

I have followed this case since being in Florida when the case first hit the news. I have watched every moment of the trial, and I did not see any of the supposed 'shoddy' work from your many specialists, or any 'conspiracy' to convict Casey. I saw professionalism, dedication and devotion to justice. The defense team, Dr G, and Yuri and his team were inspirational. This awful, deeply painful verdict can not take those facts away.

Be proud of these people and proud of your legal system - you are greater than twelve people who sat and watched and made (in my opinion) a huge mistake.

Thank you-Now, if only KC had been tried by a jury of her real peers, in Orange County. That could not happen, in part because her attorney had a great role in making sure the local jury was tainted.
Being that you are from the UK, you may not know (or maybe ya do) that there is, in fact, a demographical and cultural difference between Orlando and Clearwater.
However, that stated, Florida is Florida, and it answers to its own. Believe me, if she could be tried in another state, well...She wasn't, so I'll give that one up.
Your compliment is much appreciated because you so kindly recognized that we are a people that want justice. Not just for Caylee, but around the world. Sometimes that point is lost, just wish it did not have to be lost on a beautfiul 2 year old named Caylee Marie Anthony. I will never forget her face as long as I live.

The guy who gave a finger gesture (he should have said he was just pointing!) gets 6 days without any legal representation and a gruesome child murderer walks free!

The "best justice system on earth"? I will spit if I hear someone say that again on TV.

One can only hope that HHJP is as harsh in his recommendation to the bar re: JB as he has been in the rest of his career.

I hope so, but I guess that will be painted as the state 'taking revenge for losing' by those who didn't see his game-playing.

I was the plaintiff in a very large civil case. I will tell you the edited version of what my attorney told me so I can stay within WS TOS.

"Don't ever bet on a jury. Your odds are better in Vegas."

Then he went on to explain the same people are allowed to vote and own handguns.

I appreciate the sentiment of this thread so please do not misunderstand me when I say I really do not see much for America to be proud of as far as our justice system is concerned. Today we Americans witnessed a travesty of justice; it is not the first time and will not be the last time, unfortunately.

I totally understand where you are coming from - the verdict is heart breaking.
