Arron Lewis' tears fell to his jumpsuit as he talked from behind bars -- the suspect now charged with Capital Murder in the death of realtor Beverly Carter.

On the night of Sept. 25, investigators said Lewis scheduled an appointment with Carter to look at a house in Scott.
"It didn't have nothing to do with her showing a home," Lewis said. "Just a place to meet."

We asked Lewis how he met Beverly or how he first heard about her.
"Going on that scale is pretty much what I'm waiting to speak to my lawyer on," he said.

2 Arkansas Prison Workers Placed on Leave After Inmate's Television Interview

Two workers at the Arkansas Department of Correction (ADC) are on administrative leave following KARK's interview with inmate Arron Lewis.

A second person has been arrested in the death of a central Arkansas real-estate agent.

According Lt. Carl Minden with the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office, Crystal Hope Lowery, 41, of Jacksonville, has been arrested in connection to Beverly Carter's death, and charged with capital murder and kidnapping. She was taken into custody at her home Thursday.

The wife of a man accused of kidnapping and murdering real estate agent Beverly Carter now faces the same charges.

A Pulaski County sheriff's office arrest report shows Crystal Lowery, 41, was arrested Thursday afternoon at her Jacksonville home and is charged with capital murder and kidnapping.

Pulaski County sheriff’s office spokesman Lt. Carl Minden said that the investigation of Carter’s death is ongoing, but investigators were able to gather enough evidence to serve Lowery with her arrest warrant Thursday.

Authorities have released the court documents detailing the arrests of two people charged in the death of central Arkansas realtor Beverly Carter in September.

Arron Lewis and his estranged wife Crystal Lowery were formally charged Monday (Nov. 24). Lewis was charged with capital murder, kidnapping and felon in possession of a firearm. Lowery was charged with capital murder and kidnapping. Both are being held without bond. Lowery is at the Pulaski County Detention Center, while Lewis is in state prison because of a parole violation. Lewis has previously been convicted of four felonies.

Since the deputies made their arrests, the focus of the story has been on the suspects.Beverly's son, Carl Carter, wants the focus to be on his mother's life. He says at this point their family is focusing on moving forward.

"You see the darkness and you wonder how do these things happen and how can I not be affected?" Carter said there's at least one thing he's learned about life since his mother's death. "Evil doesn't always wear a bad guy t-shirt. You sometimes never know."

The family of slain realtor Beverly Carter received a standing ovation on the Arkansas House floor Tuesday afternoon. Two bills were passed to honor her memory and promote realtor safety.

It was a very emotional afternoon. Members of Carter's family and some lawmakers shed some tears.

The family sat up on the balcony as the House honored Beverly Carter as a loving wife and mother and one of the top realtors in the state.

The family of slain realtor Beverly Carter was present in court Tuesday morning when suspect Crystal Lowery confessed to kidnapping and murder.

Carter's son, Carl Carter Jr., told Channel 7 News it was a hurtful experience to hear Lowery admit to killing his mother.

"As hard as today was, looking to January our family knows that will be even harder. It is at that point that all of the horrible details about what happened are made public and then we have to relive that again,” Carter said.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Day one of testimony is in the books in the murder trial of a man accused of kidnapping and killing a central Arkansas realtor.

During her opening statement, Prosecutor Barbara Mariani told jurors Beverly Carter was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was kidnapped by Arron Lewis and his wife. Lewis and his wife were posing as home buyers, Mariani said.
