@Susan1122

Good observation. There does appear to be a ridge or incongruence in his hair line. If his thinning or balding pattern was from the front back, it would make sense that a ridge line of sorts could be noticeable. He may have not been able to afford a more expertly trained doctor. Then again I'm not a hair transplant specialist and wouldn't know for sure...

Glad to see you guys have started a thread on this topic!!! I haven't had time to read back thru it, but I will... I have a question about any mental illness/insanity defense he might invoke in terms of the TIME it took him to put this evil crime into reality. He PLANNED it (posted it on the internet before it happened), and then - this is the part that gets me - FILMED the entire thing and then TOOK THE TIME to EDIT it!!! Who does that??? The psychological aspect of planning, committing, editing, and then PUBLISHING your crime is in a league of it's own. He had plenty of time to change his mind, grow a conscience, develop a sense of disgust, etc.... He did not do this. After the PLANNED and FILMED murder, he took the time to package up numerous body parts (up to six???), go to the postal service and mail them, pack his clothing, purchase an airline ticket to Europe (can't wait to hear when this was done), put on a favorite Mickey Mouse t-shirt and vamoos to Europe. Next up on schedule: Get caught in an internet cafe a few days latter looking at naked pictures of self and searching for news about self. What kind of mind does this??? Thoughts??

It's strange, because it seems very well thought out and organized....but then we have his behavior in Europe, which really seemed a bit haphazard. Being seen out, knocking on the woman's door and asking to join the party(has that been verified as true?), the Internet cafe capture.....and he was only wearing sunglasses then.....and took them off. It's like he just thought that once he left Canada he was home free.....until he was in it and realized the the media scrutiny was intense. It is pretty baffling.

His plans for "after the murder" do not seem truly committed to his own posts about "how to disappear". I don't think he wanted to get caught but how could he truly experience the full magnitude of the attention without getting caught? I am not sure how conscious he was about this aspect of things. In the end, I believe his pathological need for attention trumped his concern about the consequences. I could see him actually being in a bit of a frenzy with excitement as he prepared to launch his horror show, mail out his gore trophies, and make his escape to Europe. Obviously he monitored things closely and most definitely got off finally feeling the limelight and a sense of power from the fear he injected into the world as his whereabouts were not clear. I think his getting caught reviewing his nudes and news stories couldn't have been more appropriate for such an inappropriate journey.

Here is another article on the different between a psychopath and a sociopath. It is interesting stuff! I think Luka/Eric is one or the other. This article says a sociopath is more a product of their environment. I guess I'm leaning toward that for Eric. What do you guys think?

Great post. Yes, his capture was so completely fitting. Someone mentioned earlier -a few threads ago - that maybe the nervousness people noticed in him was more excitement. That would fit with what you are saying....and I could see that being the case with him. His big show was finally on.

One other note, days ago I mentioned on here that I wondered if he'd done something with Lin Jun's head and would refuse to say. For someone who needs so much attention, I thought it possible that he did something with that as a way of keeping attention to himself well beyond the trial. Some of his last posts include videos about the Moor murders. I had not read about these horrific murders prior to reading his posts and viewing the videos. Truly vile. Anyways, the murder (the man) died without ever saying where one of the boys could be found. His co-conspirator, a woman, eventually tried to assist the law in locating the body (supposedly). Yet, the body was never found and the search continues. The couple used a sort of "code" in commicating and photographing victim burial sites. This keeps the killers names in the news without any regard for the pain/suffering of the surviving victim's loved ones. I realize that the head of Lin Jun could have been hauled away with the trash. That is a very sad reality. Still I believe LM could have hidden it intentionally as just one more premeditated and twisted way of garnering attention at a later date...

At the very beginning news was reported that in one of the boxes were notes which said he mailed 6?

@Cariis

Yes, I am aware that one of his notes says he mailed out 6 packages. But since when are LM's assertions true? I suppose he could have mailed a few out of the country and they are still on some ship or in some port in another part of the world. So yes, if the packages don't ever materialize, then I think it's possible he hid it.

Another use of 'R' that I have personally seen is with a friend's mother who was stage 4 alzheimer...

From what I have read that is considered a dangerous off-label use... see my post of the previous thread about J&J settlement news.

Okay, so I did some reading on the side effects of a certain R drug. Apparently it is most likely to cause INSOMNIA or RESTLESSNESS. It can cause yawning but no where does it say it may cause fatigue or sleepiness. So re-thinking if this was used to dope up Lin Jun....

Rxlist indicates somnolence (sleepiness) as one of the most common adverse reactions of the XXXX drug. Still, i would think it would require a very large dose to make someone sleepy to the point they would not be awakened by the type of activities LRM was conducting on Lin Jun

Re: socio vs. psychopath

There is some disagreement in the field of psych about the differences between these. But using the link you posted, and based on a very limited view of LM....sociopath. The description given fits him better IMO then the one provided for psychopath. Mind you, there are likely multiple Axis II diagnoses for LM.

Wow, what a thought. It's possible, IMO. The stuff on his website about posers on the Internet looked to me like he was possibly setting up a defense. Or at least trying to make people believe he wasn't some of those sock puppets that he actually probably was. This is like one of those mind-bending movies.

IMO he is not that crafty... which is another reason why I don't see him as psychopathic...

Orato posting from 2007:

“Overcoming Mental Illness” - claims mental institution, bipolar, hearing voices. “I am a survivor of mental illness and im not ashamed of it,” he wrote. “I went throught a very traumatic childhood and in my teen years experimented with drugs and alcohal. At first I thought this was the problem...it wasnt. I am Manic Depressive or Bi Polar. One day im normal, the next i cant get out of my bed and then next week I want to conquer the world lol. Very confusing to someone who doesnt understand. I first realized I was truly sick when I started hearing voices,” he wrote. “I was in the park and I just heard screams and people talking in my ear.” He claimed to be on medication and to have turned his life around after a time on the streets in Toronto.” http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/P...arla+Homolka/6701005/story.html#ixzz1xe6lbh8b

There is a lot more that I am trying to pull together beginning with court orders from his fraud conviction in 2005.

@SillyBilly

Hmmm, I will need to research side effects more. Frustrating how there can be great differences on reported side effects of a medication! FYI, Lin Jun was not fully out of it in the beginning portion of the video shown. So he may have never been fully unconscious. I am just hoping for Lin Jun that he was very out of it, and didn't see it coming. I can't imagine the horror of knowing and being too incapacitated to at least defend yourself. That's a very frightening nightmare.

........And like many of those famed killers, Magnotta has garnered a collection of “fans.” Some of them say they love him, say he has been set up for a murder, that they want to have sex with him, maybe just get a tattoo of him.

Let me see if I can articulate my thoughts... I understand so much about people and their thoughts, actions, behaviors, etc., but I have a very difficult time articulating these thoughts.

People are confused about how they feel about Luka and his crime, which seems to contradict his persona. He's charming, good looking, articulate, and fragile, both physically and emotionally, yet he pulled off a horrific and well-orchestrated crime paying homage to modern day pop culture - and almost a pastiche of sorts.

Now add to that the impact the internet has had on our collective psyche. The "the world [wide web] is my stage" mentality. The disconnect, or perhaps the entire opposite, the blending/blurring between reality and fiction, real life and fantasy that we live on a daily basis through the web.

I'm getting too convoluted and oblique here. It romantisization. I think that deep inside we all want to find some little inkling of good in him because deep inside we all see a little of ourselves in him. Some see more of themselves than others.

no one is a "fan" of lm unless they are equally mentally ill or a young person on the crazy social media train who doesn't really get the gravity of the situation, imo. Personally, I see no current inkling of good in him, although I can identify with what MAY have been a PART of his experience up to a certain point in time.

In short, imo, anyone who is romaticizing lm is either just as ill as he is or too young to know better, and NO ONE is finding any current good in him because they can relate. afaik, no one here has committed such a crime, so there would be no basis for empathy at that level. jmo

I probably shouldn't even comment since I missed the mention of the actual drug and have been off-line most of the day, but I want to say that drugs have profoundly different effects on people. If you give me a normal dose of an anti-anxiety med I think is at issue, I'm out of commission, period, for 12 hours least. To me, that drug would totally explain the heavy lids in my case. Actually, they would probably have had to carry me from the plane. I can't even take a full dose of nighttime cold medicine...seriously
