There has been much speculation in here about LM's level of relationship with Lin Jun. I recall reading about how one of LM's neighbors shared that LM had invited him up to his apartment in the days around the murder. I fully believe this man likely saved his own life by declining. This report suggests to me that LM was looking for a victim and that it was less likely as personally of an attack on Lin Jun. Having said that, and not meaning to contradict myself, I can't help but feel maybe LM felt jealous of Lin Jun. Here was a guy who was becoming something, making straight A's, had a part-time job, real friends and even a pet...despite the fact that he was a foreigner! Lin Jun did not have it easy, but he knew who he was and was in pursuit of things that would create him a comfortable and fulfilling life. Additionally, Lin Jun was seemingly so much more pure of heart and significantly less tainted by life. Perhaps some of the wrath and depravity imparted to Lin Jun had NOTHING to do with him at all, but instead of what he represented.

Going back to your first sentence, I also think the neighbor might have been Magnotta's first choice for a victim. I mean, how could he have asked for more irony or sensationalism in his story? By killing a guy who played a killer who dismembered his victims. If I were LRM that would have been my last laugh.

I think your comment makes totally sense, it would be very easy to Magnotta to become a woman and fool everyone in his new life. Maybe that was his real plan, he didn't expect to be caught so soon, in his own narcissistic madness he was invicible, it would take years to be traced. Or maybe he just wanted to be caught, who knows... this case is like a plot from some movie, so many questions and possibilities...

Beside this, I searched cutelittlenemo1 and December and it truly seems that time was a trigger for him--he was posting all over the place. Maybe the convergence of being alone on the holidays and almost being 30 was too much for him.

I posted this theory earlier. I totally agree with you. Just knowing that his entire family is going about their happy holidays without him and he had no one close to spend this time with may have been both depressing and maddening.

I highly doubt Russia was his aim. Hmmmm, let me nuance it a bit.
In order to enter Russia, you need a visa. Those visa aren't cheap (like 128 euro's) and you need to apply for it in advance. Getting a visa for Russia personally ( like sending your pasport to an embassy for a visa ) is a difficult one. Many people send their pasport to travel angencies, because they obtain easier excess to visa's ( due to the fact of group-travelling ). My collegue went to Russia last summer, so she explained/shared the procedure about getting a visa.
Even if you state that you are Russian or from Russian origin/heritage, it still doesn't exclude you having/needing a visa. Russia is a very closed country and not that easy to enter.

Berlin is a city, where you can blend in and become somewhat invisable, same as Prague. Now that I type Prague, i come to the realization that there are a lot of Russian/Ukraine people are residating in the Czech Republic. Prague has been a centre and a favourite pitstop place for orginazid crime, ever since the fall of communism in 1989 and being an inependent country as a fedral state in 1991 and the transformation in 1993. That said, the pricies are pretty low (for lifesupport) and if you have cash ( not a debet card or creditcard but i mean real cash ) you can make a decent stay there. Also note that CR is also a member of the EU and you dont need a visa to enter. It's all free travelling, with an occasional border check. Could be a possible destination, eventhough there is zero evidence that he has been there.

Also he could easily blend into the huge crowds.

I think you bought up a really awesome question. In terms of the themes of this thread it is kind of amazing that these themes have not been tossed around yet!

We have missed lifestyle stuff! IMO, mental illness impacts that. I started thinking about this after you mentioned it.. If we go back 10 years LM was, what, 19.

Some sweeping generalizations coming. I am guessing that most of us would be ok with saying there was partying and drugging going on in the *advertiser censored* industry. The ex-lover stated there was a lot of meth. Let’s just go with substance abuse present!

In that setting, P A R TY (!) those “friends” who were with LM were altered themselves and would it be a stretch to conclude that when his mental illness symptomology emerged (agitation, anxiety, depressed, man icky stuff) that the friends he was partying with would conclude hey he’s *advertiser censored*** up.

And let’s be honest here, I doubt any of the participants, while buzzed, are going to say LM is having problems let’s go to the emergency room .You guys know what I am saying. So that wipes out a whole bunch of potential “support systems” to intervene or support him getting help.

Then, if we go to the escort stuff that too is going to be pretty disengaged relationships. Heck I paid you to accompany me to dinner and you start acting odd on me, here is your money plus X for your cab - good night! I am not getting into this guys stuff. So there is another whole element of no authentic support.

We all know the family disengaged a long time ago – huge support system eradicated right there.
I think we all are in agreement that intimacy; trust issues are huge issue for LM so the notion that “claimed” lovers would be a support system is also probably, for all practical purposes nonexistent.

Shimmer , I just do not think there was any one invested in him. However, IMO that does not mean that he is not severly mental ill – it means that both his illiness, and as a result of that , his lifestyle, did not result in relationships that would be supportive.

Anyway, where did you read that he was doing meth (specifically)? Meth causes schitzophrenia; sometimes it goes away after quitting, sometimes it doesn't. It really depends on how much you injest and for how long. This is compounded in people who already display signs of schitzophrenia. Some people really do lose their minds from this drug. However, he doesn't look like a tweaker at all. He seems a bit too pretentious for that drug.

I don't believe he has gender confusion regarding himself--I doubt he wanted to be a woman, or there would be more photographic evidence. Cross-dressing, full drag. Even hormones, to have breasts. Most transgendered people practice their life as the opposite gender for years before they do any permanent changes. He didn't seem to do any of that.

He probably learned a lot of tricks from his transgender girlfriends, could be useful for the future in case he need to be disguised as a woman.
But you are right about photographic evidence, I've only seen one picture of him wearing a long wig and red lipstick here:

Have you read about the Craigslist killer's suicide. Pretty elaborate suicide as to not be noticed until long dead. Quite impressive.

I am not in full agreement w the sex change idea either. He did not show enough indications, and I think w how forthright he was w other things that are outside the norm I think he would have had no issue stating his intention/ wanting to have a sex change.

So he isn't really "bisexual", then, is he? But he seems to have a problem with identifying himself as "just" gay.

IMO I do not see that as part of LM's psychological profile. I don't find his sexual orientation ambiguities as unexpected either. Often persons with personality disorders have sexual orientation issues and or poor boundaries. LM even has posts where by he self-describes himself as Borderline...and lack of boundaries and sexuality issues are very common among this population. Given the significant absence of empathy/compassion that LM has, I could see him at least behaving bisexually as means of increasing the amount of persons he could exploit. Psychopaths/sociopaths are adept at creating the vision their victim wants to see. It's always an illusion because they have no real emotional self to portray.

I'm not sure about this, but transgender isn't the same as transexual. So a transgendered person will still have his/her "original" sexual parts. It's just that they identify themselves with the opposite gender, and dress, act, live life as that gender. A transsexual will go through more physical changes, surgery, hormones, etc.

My take on the get caught jazz. I really believe he was just clueless for a couple of days. I think tired is also pretty accurate! It is not "crazy" to expect that the suitcase would be removed. So I think he just took off.
If we look at his intial behavor in Paris he was "chillin and partying".

Then, I think , as he was walking around Paris , the front pages, tv screens etc it was like holy S*** I think that is why, in Berlin, he was not in disguise "yet".

He went in to cafe, IMO, thinking, heck I better REALLY find out what is happening.....
