Karlie Pearce-Stevenson 'was a drug runner who fled Alice Springs with a $25,000 debt' before she was murdered and her daughter's bones were found in a suitcase

PUBLISHED: 23:53 EST, 6 November 2015 | UPDATED: 01:48 EST, 7 November 2015

Murdered young mother Karlie Pearce-Stevenson had a drug debt to the tune of $25,000 before she was killed, an informant has told police.
A person with close ties to Ms Pearce-Stevenson’s family told police that before the 20-year-old was murdered, she had been planning to do a drug run between South Australia and the Northern Territory, The Advertiser reported.
He said Ms Pearce-Stevenson left Alice Springs with her daughter Khandalyce in 2008 with money she was allegedly going to use to buy drugs that she would smuggle from Adelaide to Darwin.

It also emerged that in 2010, Ms Pearce-Stevenson’s late grandmother Connie Duffy had been charged with possession of a commercial quantity of cannabis.
The informant - who had moved in with Ms Duffy to look after her - was also charged.
Ms Pearce-Stevenson had been sent to live with Ms Duffy when she was a teenager.

New photos of Khandalyce Pearce, whose remains were dumped in a suitcase on the side of a South Australian highway, have been found on the Facebook page of Hazel Passmore, an ex-girlfriend of the man accused of murdering the toddler's mother.

It is understood police will allege Ms Passmore was the same woman who impersonated Ms Pearce-Stevenson in 2010.

It is also understood she will be investigated over allegations of financial fraud and will be questioned about what happened to the victims.

On Tuesday, police alleged a woman in a wheelchair posed as Ms Pearce-Stevenson during a bank visit in Adelaide in 2010 and at Centrelink later that same year.

Neighbours have told the ABC a number of police in unmarked cars were seen at her house last week.

It is understood police will allege Ms Passmore was the same woman who impersonated Ms Pearce-Stevenson in 2010 and will be investigated over allegations of financial fraud.

A number of images of Khandalyce were uploaded to Ms Passmore's Facebook account in 2008.
