if {mod edit} alleged suspect and CR were good pals, him being dropped off at her house by a pal wouldn't seem out of the ordinary. he could have told his friend he was just visiting her, or some other excuse. to me, it actually makes a lot of sense to have a friend drop you off at a planned murder scene, IMO. esp since we don't know what the weapon is/was -- he didn't necessarily need to bring his own. if he knew the house well, he already knew what was there to use.

True. But it would make him very brazen if this was the case, not only would he have to be certain he wasn't going to get caught locating the weapon (not sure he could take Dad on without one), but there is also the walk home. I just find it so hard to fathom that a guy, who doesn't appear to be exceptionally "tough" would plan on taking on 3 people with nothing more than a knife.

There is also the possibility the 4WD was not involved in the actual crime, but that the occupants were able to provide information, such as seeing someone or something. No one actually witnessed the occupant that got out entering the house, so it may be unrelated...the alleged suspect may have also returned later.
