An unidentified young woman found dead in a south Brisbane riverside park may be a foreign student.

It is understood police were contacted on Monday afternoon, shortly before Detective Inspector Rod Kemp cancelled a media conference.

A police spokeswoman said detectives were investigating if the woman was a foreign student.

"The investigators said they were looking into accommodation, backpackers and student accommodation in Brisbane," she told AAP.

It seems someone contacted police 2.30 this afternoon concerned they'd not seen a loved one in days.... a young foreign student.

Police searching Brisbane river for murder weapon & more of the woman's belongings. She had horrific head injuries.

I suspected when she went unidentified over the weekend that she was an international student. I hope they can find out who she is. :(

In that video they state that she was found naked, which I hadn't read in the news reports :facepalm:

I'm wondering about how somebody dumped a naked body on a table in an inner city park and nobody noticed?

Seems very bold of the killer...... :scared:

POLICE fear a young woman brutally killed in Brisbane is the third foreign student murdered in the city in the past four months.

Detectives yesterday identified the woman – who was found badly beaten on the banks of the Brisbane River near the William Jolly Bridge last Friday – and believe she is a French student who had been living in Brisbane for about a year.
