#SaltCreek sex predator, 60 showed no emotion as verdicts given. German backpacker in court. Brazilian woman back home.

Leaving the twitter stuff from now on to the expert JJ thanks for posting.

Andrew Hough @andrew_hough

#SaltCreek jury deliberated for almost 10 hours – split unanimous/majority verdicts. Most serious att murder acquittal majority

Sean Fewster @Sean Fewster

A legal majority in SA is 10 or more jurors - this jury only had 11 members due to illness.

Having lurked all the way through rather than say anything incautious, will now say, having read the verdict, that Adelaide/SA has cemented in my mind its reputation as the murder and corruption centre of Australia and should be shut-down, condemned.

So does this mean he has zero criminal history? Or it just hasn't been released in MSM yet? Usually after the trial we find out their previous form.....

Not that I'm impatient or anything....:maddening:

I'm disgusted and appalled at the information that is being disclosed now.

From your link DRT -

THE Salt Creek kidnapper took a Japanese backpacker to the same isolated spot just three months before his crimes — but returned her, unharmed, after she revealed she had posted photos of him online.
During pre-trial legal argument, prosecutor Jim Pearce SC said 12 other backpackers had been approached by the man in the months leading up to the Salt Creek incident.

In the number of backpackers listed, not one was male.

This man is dangerous and his intent to murder couldn't be more plain, imo. He was relentlessly trying to kill these young women and they fought back and lived to tell.
Seems like if 2 women survive a savage sustained attack, it isn't possible a 60 yr old male attacker couldn't achieve killing them, so 'intent' is then removed from the table according to the jury. They did heed the defence's advice that if the accused wanted to kill them, he would have. :sigh:

Three months before the Brazilian woman posted an ad on Gumtree, a ubiquitous online trading site, looking for someone to share a ride to Melbourne, a young Japanese traveller named Yuki Ueno placed one looking for a companion to make the same trip. The man answered both ads.

Police believe the only reason he didn’t attack her is she kept posting photographs of him and her along the road. He was active on social media. He understood there was a trail of digital breadcrumbs connecting the girl to him and the Coorong........

For the next days and weeks, he trawled her Facebook page. He developed an obsession about raping Japanese women.

The Brazilian had couch surfed her way across South Africa and, for six months, had been studying in Sydney. She worked with people with disabilities and was studying to be a nurse.

She was an engaging young woman with rich dark hair and a warm smile......

The German was a small woman with reddish-brown hair. She had travelled to Namibia in Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia and throughout Europe.
