Please don't take this as me excusing Talan's actions, but I am sad for him, and how he has been let down by what seems to be a combination of negligence and enablement from his parents. Travis Renner's ex-girlfriend did an interview with police that I think is worth reading. Starts on page 624.

• Travis and his wife, Rebecca (Talan's mother), separated a year ago. Rebecca knew of Travis's girlfriend and was fine with it

Lauri details significant issues with addiction and domestic violence within the Renner family. The oldest son, Kyler Renner, is a "drug dealer". Kyler has been "pushing hard drugs" since eighth grade and makes fentanyl laced marijuana carts. [Travis's ex-girlfriend] sent her oldest son to a rehabilitation center because he obtained Xanax from Kyler. [Travis's ex-girlfriend] said the Renner family is powerful and people fear them. Travis talks down about the police and brags about how he can "buy" their kids out of trouble. For example, Travis once made a $10,000.00 donation to American Leadership Academy (ALA) and sponsored sports programs through his business, One Stop Nutrition, to prevent them from expelling Talan.

[Travis's ex-girlfriend] described Travis as an alcoholic and abuses marijuana. Travis also consumes "shrooms" and does cocaine before workouts. Travis gets drugs from Kyler. Kyler sells cocaine, marijuana, mushrooms, LSD, ecstasy, Percocet and Xanax. As young as 5th grade, Talan took acid that he obtained from his older brother, Kyler. There were [redacted] issues between Travis and Rebecca as well as between Travis and [Travis's ex-girlfriend], which Travis was arrested for at least one time. [Travis's ex-girlfriend] did not report any incidents but has some encounters saved on her phone. Travis has been threatening [Travis's ex-girlfriend] recently over their shared property and business dealings.

[Travis's ex-girlfriend] suspects Travis provides Talan with drugs but only knows for sure that Travis has provided Talan with marijuana and alcohol. For Talan's 14th birthday, Travis gave Talan marijuana candies.

There were many occasions where the Renner children were also taken to rehabilitation centers - The Latham House, The Avery House, Diamond Ranch Academy - to name a few. Talan has undergone [redacted] but all came back normal. Kyler has [redacted] on several occasions but instead of going to the hospital, they usually monitor his vitals but there was a time he was taken to the hospital. [Travis's ex-girlfriend] felt that was the downfall of their relationship. Eventually, they sold their home. Travis got Kyler a rental home and moved in with him. [Travis's ex-girlfriend] believes Travis and Kyler are now drug addicts together. Talan lives with Rebecca full time now but Rebecca abuses [redacted].

[Travis's ex-girlfriend] described Talan as an "angry kid" and a "fighter". She said he "holds in a lot of aggression. When he snaps, he snaps". In March 2022, Talan was placed at Diamond Ranch Academy in St. George, Utah. He was there from approximately March 2022 until March 2023 but was almost kicked out because he got into a fight and broke another student's arm. Talan also got in trouble while attending Sossamon Junior High School for fighting another student.

When Talan was in approximately 5th grade, he threatened to shoot up his school with [Travis's ex-girlfriend's] gun while attending a school in the Gilbert School District. Talan got out of rehab in March 2023 and has been attending ALA while working at One Stop Nutrition. Overall, he was doing "fine" but was continuing to drink alcohol, do "whippets" (slang term for inhalant drugs) and "triple C" (slang term for over-the-counter cough medication) because he claims there is no test for them.

[Travis's ex-girlfriend] has only seen Talan a handful of times this year, but she has communicated with him through Snapchat. On 10-31-2023, [Travis's ex-girlfriend] missed two FaceTime calls from Talan. She thought something was wrong with him and she sent him a Snapchat message because she did not want Rebecca to know she was talking to Talan. She asked him if he was okay and he replied, "Holy *advertiser censored*, [Travis's ex-girlfriend]. Everything is going terrible. I can't talk about it on Snap. I'll have to call you or FaceTime you". Talan did not call or FaceTime her, but she knows Talan talked to her son, [[Travis's ex-girlfriend's son]. [Travis's ex-girlfriend] was recently in Arizona visiting, so she picked [her son] up for lunch to celebrate his birthday when told her what Talan had told him.

[Travis's ex-girlfriend] asked [her son] what was going on with Talan since it was unusual of him to FaceTime call the family. Talan told [[Travis's ex-girlfriend's son] that he killed [redacted]. Talan said he "curb stomped" [redacted]. According to Talan, [redacted] had a video of an unrelated fight with brass knuckles in which another kid ended up in the hospital. They wanted the video from [redacted], so Jacob Meisner grabbed [redacted] then Talan punched him. [Travis's ex-girlfriend] described Talan as "a strong kid". Once [redacted] "went down", [Travis's ex-girlfriend] was told that Talan used a "hammer fist" to "crushed his face four-ish times". After Talan did that, [Travis's ex-girlfriend] heard more "damage" was done.

Since the incident, [Travis's ex-girlfriend] noticed a large amount of money being spent that was unusual. She said Kyler went shopping at the Scottsdale Fashion Center and bought a $20,000 gold and diamond bracelet and additional items from Gucci and Louie Vuitton - totaling approximately $30,000. [Travis's ex-girlfriend] felt this was to get rid of cash. She described Travis and Kyler's residence as a "drug house".

Approximately 3 months ago, Talan reached out to [Travis's ex-girlfriend] about how he was struggling in school and was feeling "dumb" and always falling asleep. [Travis's ex-girlfriend] knew Talan was using marijuana and had a conversation about how school is difficult even when you are sober. [Travis's ex-girlfriend] tried to get a tutor back into Talan's life to help him. Talan disclosed that Rebecca Renner abuses [redacted] to stay awake and get things done. He then disclosed to Laurie that he was diagnosed with [redacted] now, too.

[Travis's ex-girlfriend] said Talan does not have formal martial arts training, but he is a trained wrestler. Talan placed 2nd in the state competition at Diamond Ranch Academy. [Travis's ex-girlfriend] described Talan as muscular and "full of rage". She cares for Talan and feels bad that he can be misunderstood but the turning point for her was when she heard about video surveillance in which Talan discussed getting away with it and the incident being "closed casket". She heard the information from a neighbor in the Whitewing at Higley neighborhood that she thinks learned it from women named [name 1] and [name 2]. When asked how they would have the information, she said [name 1] is a family advocate and although she is not personally involved with [name 1], things she says have been filtering around Gilbert.

[Travis's ex-girlfriend] expressed how much she loved Talan and offered to take care of him to keep him away from negative influences, but she was told no. Since her split with Travis, this year has been the worst with the Renner children's behaviors. [Travis's ex-girlfriend] talked about the "Gilbert Goons"and explained her son, [son's name], is the one that told her about Talan's involvement in the group. I asked her to tell me what her understanding of the group was. She said, "get outta cars and beat the crap outta kids". [Travis's ex-girlfriend] said she wonders to herself why kids that have everything in the world choose to spend their time that way and explained she does not talk to Talan about the group because she feels that's not her job.

[Travis's ex-girlfriend] further detailed current tensions between her and Travis. She disclosed that earlier in the relationship she trusted Travis and sold businesses. [Travis's ex-girlfriend] sold a gym she owned and got rid of her own property because she trusted Travis and is currently trying to rebuild her financial independence, life and business. Travis continues to pay for her cell phone, so she is worried he will monitor her activity and she has been speaking with QCPD. Travis has broken business contracts over the sale of Orange Theory locations to earn himself a significant amount of money. She knew of times where Travis transported drugs that he obtained from Kyler to transport them to business partners in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It is possible that he donated to a school sports booster club so the school is able to say it didn’t receive a donation from him. One article said he donated to ALA and sponsored sports programs.
