GUILTY Bali - Officer Wayan Sudarsa slain, Australian woman & British BF charged, Aug 2016

No missing bag or anything like that you think?

Yeah not convinced .. We'll see I guess.

On Sara's 'quiet life' I thought she liked to party and opened her house up to backpackers she met at the arts factory, even allowing some to pitch tents in her yard, so I'm not sure how much of the family spokespersons statement is spin?

Maybe we should take the 'self defense' question off the heading now we know it was a straight up murder?

Yes, removing "self defense" sounds like a good idea--the early news media articles were very unclear as to what happened.

It has been changed. Thanks mods!

This is a horrendous crime. I'm really shocked by the brutality.

Do policemen in Bali not carry any weapons at all? Not even batons or tasers or anything?

I've no idea? I'm equally shocked by the brutality, so much for the peaceful hippy types from Byron eh?

They had to be ice users, if not then they were trying to overcome violent pasts or similar, because the way they killed the officer was very up close and personal I think. You know a lot of people with troubled backgrounds do move to Byron to try and heal, it wouldn't surprise me. Problem can be, a lot of disturbed people coming together does not always help, observed it go wrong many times here over the years.

Connor tried to protect Bali officer: lawyer
Published: 5:41 am, Friday, 26 August 2016

The lawyer representing the Australian mother Sara Connor, accused of participating in the murder of a Bali policeman, now claims she had tried to protect the Indonesian police officer from her British boyfriend, David Taylor.

Ms Connors lawyer argues the charges against the pair should not include murder because there was no intent to kill.

So if she was trying to protect him, why did he bite her?

This is a silly statement (imo). Police already said days ago that it was murder, as opposed to premeditated murder. And I can't disagree with that.
This was no case of accidental manslaughter. He beat the police officer. He used binoculars, phone, bottle, to beat him and cut him. He went too far. She participated.

I have no sympathy for these two and hope they get the maximum sentence allowed. They beat this man to death. Who kills someone because they think the person stole a purse? STHU!

Wow she's really pulling out all the stops to get out of this one, I agree with everyone that says she was an equal participant. What is wrong with them, I'm glad they're not in Byron anymore but feel very sorry for the family of the officer.

This latest attempt to manipulate the situation is a step too far by Sara Conner and she will probably feel the backlash come sentencing, she can't seriously expect people to believe that can she? Makes her look guiltier than she already did, David Taylor may retaliate by throwing her under the bus in return too.

The reason for stronger punishment against drug crimes is many of the asian countries claim the drugs a person would sell would kill more in the long run.

Well that applies to alcohol and nicotine as well. Not arguing with you, just saying.

bbm

Yup.

Meanwhile, Mr Taylor, who turned 34 on Thursday, is alleging that Ms Connor hit Mr Sudarsa during their scuffle on Kuta Beach on August 16.

'Sara said her left thigh got bitten by the victim and then Sara hit him,' his lawyer Haposhan Sihombing told reporters.

Also

Mr Siregar (lawyer) said she also denies it was her idea to burn the clothes as police have suggested.

...

Mr Taylor, his lawyer said, claims it was Ms Connor who lit the fire.

They surely turned quickly against each other.

This almost seems like a re-run of Heather Mack and Tommy Schaefer's investigation .... other than the fact that Schaefer decided to take the fall for Sheila's murder, so their stories did not conflict too much (after a while).

Byron Bay mum Sara Connor, who spent three days on the run with her British boyfriend after allegedly bashing a Bali police officer to death, has been forcibly escorted for psychiatric tests.

Ms Connor underwent psychiatric tests on Friday, after claimed she was trying to protect the officer from being beaten to death by her British boyfriend David Taylor after his bloodied body was found with 42 wounds.

Taylor has requested not to be sent for the tests because he is exhausted after a long night of questioning by Bali Police

I think negotiations may begin.

Sydney barrister Peter Strain has been instructed by the family of Sara Connor to provide assistance after the Byron Bay woman was named a suspect over the death of a Bali police officer.
Mr Strain and Ms Connor's former husband Anthony "Twig" Connor will fly to Bali at the weekend with Mr Connor expected to meet Ms Connor on Monday.

And this ...

However Mr Siregar (Bali lawyer) said Ms Connor may only receive about three years if she was found guilty of aiding or abetting in assault leading to death.

I wonder how much of the funds raised by Sara's friends will go towards bribes ... Oops did I say that? Yes I did!!

For the first time in more than a week Sara Connor has had her first visitors in jail.

Clearly overwhelmed with emotion Connor hugged the two women warmly as they greeted her inside a holding cell at Denpasar police station.

Since their arrest, on August 19, Connor and Taylor have been deliberately separated by police, forbidden from speaking with each other in order to avoid collusion in the retelling of their alleged roles in the police officer’s death.

From sleeping on the floor of a prison cell to hours of rigorous psychiatric tests: The squalid life of mother-of-two Sara Connor

Pictures of the 45-year-old looking downtrodden while undergoing four hours of psychological testing were released on Friday, as it was revealed she sleeps on a mat on the floor of a small jail cell.
