DAVENPORT, Iowa —
It's been two months since 10-year-old Breasia Terrell of Davenport went missing.

Breasia was last seen in the early morning hours of July 10. Although the search has been a lot quieter than when she first disappeared, police are still working with the FBI and the Division of Criminal Investigation.

"Any day, any hour of the day that you walk up to that area, they're working on it. They're working through tips. They're working on anything that comes up with that," said Chief Paul Sikorski, with the Davenport Police

Officials say this remains an open missing person’s case and no identification has been made on the remains discovered Monday.

“First and foremost, we are following the best protocols in order to achieve resolution regarding the identification of the remains,” DCI Special Agent in Charge Richard Rahn said. “We are working diligently across multiple agencies including the Division of Criminal Investigations, the Federal Bureau of Investigations and law enforcement from Davenport and Clinton counties to complete the investigation. We appreciate your patience as we work thoroughly toward resolution.”

According to Sheriff Greenwalt the community and law enforcement leadership are focused on primary communications with family members at this time.

“Our prayers are deeply with the families directly impacted by this discovery,” said Davenport Police Chief Paul Sikorski. “Please join us in keeping them in our thoughts.”

DAVENPORT, Iowa -- An Iowa man was sentenced Wednesday to two life terms for killing a 10-year-old girl who was missing for eight months before her remains were found in a pond.

Henry Earl Dinkins also will have to pay $150,000 in restitution to the mother of Breasia Terrell, The Quad City Times reports. The girl's July 2020 disappearance led to huge searches by dozens of volunteers and numerous law enforcement agencies before fishermen found her body in March 2021 in a rural area north of Davenport.

Last month Judge Henry Latham found Dinkins, 51, guilty of first-degree murder and kidnapping. The life sentences he imposed are without parole.
