TSA officials told NBC4 the shooting occurred at a security checkpoint

A gunman opened fire at a security checkpoint Friday morning at Los Angeles International Airport, injuring at least three people -- including a TSA employee -- and forcing a terminal evacuation.

Initial reports indicated that a gunman approached a document checker, then pulled a firearm and fired one shot at the security officer, according to NBC's Pete Williams. Detective Gus Villanueva of the Los Angeles Police Department said police believe they have the gunman in custody.

Reports: TSA employee killed in LAX shooting

One Transportation Security Administration employee was killed in Friday's shooting at Los Angeles International Airport, NBC News and CBS News reported.

Sounds like it. Another interviewee said that passengers are holed up in a tunnel near baggage claim and they have been told to stay put.

ETA: They are now discussing re-screening of passengers and baggage on CNN. Tedious process that could take a very long time.

I've seen from multiple outlets that the gunman is dead along with a TSA agent.
FOX national news said they've received the reports of the gunman being deceased but they haven't been able to confirm it.

We'll probably have to wait until the news brief to get the full details.

LE does know the id of the shooter but is not releasing that info yet.

The shooting took place outside of the security area. It was where the agents check your documentation or papers or whatever.

Started at 9:20am in Terminal 3, took assault rifle out of bag- lone shooter, shot past TSA terminal proceeded towards gate.
He got as far back as Burger King in terminal.
