Infant death on 405 Fwy tied to 2 other deadly scenes in Southern California

Investigators believe that three deadly scenes, a homicide in Woodland Hills, a crash on the 405 Freeway that left an infant dead and a young girl hospitalized and a fatal crash in Redondo Beach are possibly connected, authorities confirmed to KTLA.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to reports of a “person down” at the Montecito Apartments at 6203 Variel Ave. at about 7:30 a.m.

The victim was found inside a garage where crime scene tape surrounded a dark-colored sedan.

A witness told an RMG News photojournalist that the suspect, or suspects, rammed through a garage door to get away.

Detectives later learned of a fatal crash on the 405 freeway near Sepulveda Boulevard and the Howard Hughes Parkway exit at around 4:30 a.m. in Culver City.

So the first incident appears to be the death of a man in an apartment garage. And apparently a car forced its way out of the garage door? [body found at 7:30 am but died earlier than that]

Around 4:30 am, on 405 fwy, two children were left there, no adults present. A 5 month old baby girl was found deceased, in traffic lanes. An injured 1o yr old girl was alongside the freeway.

Then at 5 am a woman crashed head on into a tree, no skid marks seen. She died.

[Did this woman kill her partner, or maybe found him dead? Then she abandons the kids and kills herself?]

Woodland Hills homicide

A man's body was reported found face down at the Montecito apartments on Variel Avenue in Woodland Hills around 7:30 a.m. It was not clear how long his body had been at the scene before he was found.

It apparently happened inside the garage. Crime scene tape was surrounding a black vehicle. The garage gate was also damaged.

Investigators have not released much information, other that this is not gang-related.

I have no idea what to think or what to say. Reading through this thing almost makes me dizzy.
IMO, if this is all related, then WTH does it mean? And HTH are they linked? (Please excuse, I tend to ramble on.... )
Just wondering what links LE has seen or possibly heard from people who may know something that has been going on with some of these folks, or if any of the adults have had a past with which LE is familiar.
This is a very sad thing for many people.

It's a hard day when I have to wish a baby died sooner, potentially by stabbing, rather than dying from being thrown from a moving vehicle or from being run over by vehicles after deliberately being placed in the road.

I cannot fathom what led to this catastrophe, and I imagine that the only way we'll know is if the living child is able to tell something meaningful to investigators.

Police spent Monday following a bizarre and tragic trail of violence that left the dead and injured bodies of a Woodland Hills family scattered across Los Angeles County.

The horror began with a woman killing her husband at their Valley home, abandoning her two small daughters on the 405 Freeway — one of whom died — and then fatally crashing her car into a tree in Redondo Beach, according to a law enforcement source who was not authorized to speak publicly about the investigation.

The first sign of the family tragedy turned up around 4:30 a.m. Monday.

...snipped....

At the house, police found the woman’s husband stabbed to death. Neighbors at the Montecito Apartments said the couple had a volatile relationship and that they’d had a fight before the woman left with the kids, as reported by KCAL News.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the family members.

It's unusual for the woman to be the annihilator, but not unheard of.

Sending all the strength and healing to the living child. She's lost everything in one swoop. I hope she has caring extended family who can give her the home and support she will need.

Neighbors interviewed on local TV news said there was a lot of yelling and screaming that night, and a history of continual late-night arguing.
The little baby was found in the traffic lanes...may have been hit or run over? The other child had minor injuries.
Unbelievable, and terribly sad.

The man found deceased has been identified.

the body of a man believed to have been stabbed to death was found in an upscale apartment building in Woodland Hills.

He was later identified by the coroner as Jaelen Allen Chaney, a 29-year-old man from Woodland Hills
.

Detectives have connected the deaths of an infant in Culver City and a man in Woodlands Hills to a single suspect: the child's mother and the man's wife, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The deadly spree allegedly began early this morning when the woman stabbed her husband to death after a fight in Woodland Hills, LAPD Valley Homicide detectives said. Neighbors at the Montecito Apartments said the couple had a volatile relationship.

while the name hasn't been released of the Redondo beach crash fatality, I think we are safe to assume it is the mother/wife of the above victims. :(

Investigators believe Johnson killed her partner inside their home before fleeing, pushed her two small daughters out of the car on the 405 and then deliberately rammed her SUV into the tree in Redondo Beach in an apparent suicide.

A law enforcement source with knowledge of the investigation told The Times on Tuesday that the 9-year-old girl who was found on the freeway witnessed the deadly events and told investigators what had happened. After the stabbing, Johnson got into the car with the children and rammed through the security gate to leave the complex, according to the source, who was not authorized to speak publicly about the matter and requested anonymity.

OMG the horror! Shoved them out of the vehicle on the 405

My heart and prayers go out to the surviving 9 yr old daughter. what she lived through and witnessed that night? Jesus wept. I pray she gets all the support she needs to process this awful awful event.

:(

She then apparently forced the two girls out of her vehicle in the middle of the 405 Freeway in Westchester. The older girl, a 9-year-old, was holding the 8-month-old when they were ejected from the SUV and hit the roadway, investigators say. The girl lost hold of the baby, who was then struck by a vehicle on the freeway and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Sources say Johnson had been living in Woodland Hills with 29-year-old Jaelen Chaney and they had been a couple for several years. She was in the process of divorcing another man, the father of her 9-year-old daughter. Authorities have not yet confirmed if Chaney was the biological father of the baby who died on the freeway.
