Police say Robert MacDonald stabbed his 52 year old father and 51 year old mother multiple times at the family's home on Poinsettia Avenue at 11:20 p.m. Thursday.

Manhattan beach police Sergeant Brian Brown said MacDonald's father struggled with his son and was able to subdue him.

A 20-year-old man who allegedly attacked his parents with a knife in Manhattan Beach changed his plea on Wednesday to not guilty by reason of insanity.

A 20-year-old Manhattan Beach man pleaded guilty Monday to attempting to kill his parents with a butcher knife and was sentenced to possibly spend the rest of his life in a state mental hospital...

The court found MacDonald legally insane at the time of the April 30 crime...

He will be confined to Patton until doctors believe he is no longer a danger to himself or others
