GUILTY CA - Sarah Douglas, 26, murdered in her Elk Grove home, 1 May 2014

I'm a little confused. From everything I've read, they are saying he definitely did it. So why do I see so many people talking about her and/or any job she may have been doing? I mean, I get that he's a fire fighter, but he's human and some of this whole "tell who she is and what she did" is pretty offensive.

I couldn't agree more, Angels_Not_Forgotten. Even if these allegations ARE true, which we don't know they are, it doesn't matter what either of them did for a living, and people shouldn't be so simple-minded to assume that a fireman is a better person than a sex worker, that a fireman isn't capable of domestic violence, or that a sex worker is somehow more deserving of violence than say, a stay-at-home-mom. No one here has walked in this young lady's shoes, nor do we know the first thing about her life situation or what she may have been struggling with... This disrespect towards the victim is not right; she was a young woman who did not deserve to die a violent death.

When did the family member receive those messages? It's possible he sent them to try and cover for his crime. I'm not understanding why the family member chose to reveal the messages to the media, unless it was to smear the victim's reputation or set up a defense for him by pretending he left her?

Rest in peace Sarah. I'm so sorry that your young life came to such a violent end.

Well said. The facts will be revealed in time. Right now there is a young woman whose life ended too soon and tragically. God rest her soul.
Let us pray those involved surrender without further tragedy.

Thanks Angels!!
WS is a forum against victim bashing.

Moe saved my husbands life. I believe there is much more to this story. Until it all shakes out, Im not going to b in the tank totally that he did it. Moe may also b a victim at this point in the game. Praying they find Moe alive. Im not bashing the young lady, just frustated the whole story is not being reported by the media. Its pretty messed up.

I didn't realize we had a thread here for this case. I didn't want to open one because too many of the articles were running stories about the victim's alleged sex work as though that provided some mitigation or explanation why some cold blooded killer snuck up behind her in her own home, and cut her throat. I think some media stations are going to be a little regretful about that coverage, when they look back.

If (and I doubt this) her killer is still alive, I've no doubt the full explanation will turn out to be the same as it almost always is. Killers kill because they want to, and can.

Orville "Moe" Fleming is a named POI (person of interest) and suspect in the brutal stabbing death of 26 year-old Sara Douglas in the home they shared at Fox River Way.

His white Chevy fire truck has been found abandoned at Elk Grove but he has ties in many other parts of CA.

He is likely to be armed and possibly suicidal and so should not be approached. Anyone who sees him should call Sacramento Sheriff's Homicide Dept on: 916-874-5115
Or call your local LE.

Sheriff's press release.

By the way, I have gone with the spelling of Sara's name as it's written in the LE press release. I know it's with an H in many of the articles, and am not sure who has made a mistake.

Family of the suspect does sometimes try to muddy the water by putting out stories about the victim. But they do it rashly. They don't stop to think about how bad it makes him look. If it is true that they told they were engaged, think about it. Was he so desperate that he hired a paid escort and passed her off to family and friends as his fiancee? If so that gives more of a motive. What happens if she decides to leave him? What happens if he runs out of money? How desperate was he?

http://www.news10.net/story/news/crime/2014/05/03/fugitive-fire-chief-manhunt/8676253/

Fleming was in process of getting a divorce from his wife. She attempted to get a restraining order on him but it was denied.

LE says they are better at catching fugitives than he is at being one.

(Fresno Superior Court records show that Fleming's estranged wife tried to get a temporary restraining order against Douglas, but that petition was denied.)

The News 10 story states that Flemings wife attempted to get a temp restraining order against Douglas, not Fleming.

Where was my mind?

Thanks for picking up on that, I've corrected it.

So much time going by without finding Fleming. Nothing in the news.

Deleted (DM article has victim's sister's name under image byline. Editing post until confirmation that this photo is of the victim & not a family member. I'd rather be safe than sorry. My apologies.
