Sheila is mentioned in this article on 5 missing Humboldt County women. There is a photo of the POI Jimmy Jones. The article says:

“Jones has had criminal charges for drugs and a conviction for domestic violence but despite compelling connections between the two women’s disappearances, no arrest has been made. While police say Jones is not a suspect, he does remain a person of interest.”

I haven't seen this news anywhere but Kym Kemp's site so far. I expect there will be more tomorrow. Stafford is not far from Rio Dell, where Sheila was believed to have disappeared. Thoughts and prayers with her family as they wait.

The trouble is, the links in my next post indicate “mostly skeletal” and “extreme decomposition” of the body, so it’s probably too recent even to be Sheila, let alone Danna who disappeared in 1984. I’ve never seen any more about it.
 
Sheila Franks was reported missing on February 2, 2014 from Fortuna, California. Sheila’s mother reported her missing after family members had not heard from her in nearly a month, according to police. The 38-year-old left behind a young son. Officials believe her disappearance may be connected to the case of Danielle Bertolini who vanished shortly after Sheila. Danielle's remains were found in March of 2015, in California's Eel River. She had been murdered. Both women were reportedly last seen with the same man, and police have said that person is considered a person of interest in both cases. However, no charges have been filed.

Sheila Franks, 37, vanished in Eureka in 2014, just seven days before Bertolini did. The two are the only ones of the five who have been found, tragically in the form of partial remains. Bertolini’s skull was discovered in 2015 north of Rio Dell. Police have determined she died by homicide. A femur bone belonging to Franks was located near Loleta at the mouth of the Eel River, just 13 miles away from Bertolini's skull, in 2019. Her death is considered suspicious. Both women had blond hair and blue eyes, and were of similar appearance and build, Maine's Bangor Daily News pointed out in 2014.

This last week, family of the two women joined with Detective Brian Taylor of the Fortuna Police Department. Taylor, who went to high school with the victim, has been the investigator on the Danielle Bertolini case since she originally went missing in 2014 from the Swain’s Flat area of Bridgeville. Like Fortuna Police, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office has also kept Sheila Frank’s case open after she was determined to have gone missing within days of Bertolini.

In 2015, former Fortuna Police Department Chief William Dobberstein told Dateline investigators that “we have identified a person of interest in both cases and it’s the same man.” Over nine years have passed with few developments in either of the cases, which law enforcement consider potentially related.

While law enforcement have found partial remains of each woman over the course of several years, the evidence needed to tie either suspicious death to an assailant has proven elusive over time.

Seeking to reinvigorate the search for clues and witness information that could bring to light further details about the last known actions of Danielle Bertolini or of Sheila Frank – who they were with, where they may have been going, and what either of them may have been doing in the days prior to their deaths, the family of the two women came to Humboldt County and met with journalists.

I'm terrified of Humboldt for this reason. Lots of very obvious unprosecuted serial killers. I hope this place can get it's *advertiser censored* together someday. I don't like living here and it's getting worse. I don't go out without my husband and his guns

James Eugene Jones, AKA Jimmy Jones, was arrested by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department on March 3 for two misdemeanors and one felony charge.

North Coast residents may recognize Jimmy Jones’ name, in large part because Jim Jones is widely believed to have been the last person to have seen Danielle Bertolini and Sheila Franks alive. Both Franks and Bertolini went missing in 2014 in the Eel River Valley within days of each other. Partial remains have been found belonging to both women, confirming their deaths, though finding enough evidence to make an arrest has proved elusive.

Though the Fortuna Police Department has said that they have identified a suspect, they have never officially named the suspect.

Redheaded Blackbelt began receiving tips over the weekend that Jones was in the Rio Dell/Scotia area and exhibiting what some described as stalking behavior.
