The death of a Bay Area man whose body was pulled from Lake Oroville last month has been ruled accidental, according to the Butte County Sheriffs Office.
An autopsy performed on the man, Stephon Jones, 27, found no signs of trauma to the body that would indicate foul play or suicide, according to a press release issued Monday. Further, the circumstances of Jones disappearance further support the determination that his death was accidental.
Autopsy results could not pinpoint the cause of death which is common in circumstances involving significant decomposition, according to the release. However, circumstantial evidence gathered during the course of this lengthy investigation has allowed the Sheriffs Office to draw this conclusion.
